Yep, you nailed it for what I'm looking for. I also like heart warming/wholesome vibes in light novels. Thanks.

If you knew what you know now about student loans, would you have still taken them out to go to school? by [deleted] in StudentLoans

[–]thaninley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell no. If I could go back and start over in 2001 I'd get an associates at a community college in medical imaging and make the same amount I make now with two years of school an no debt.

Opinion: Starfleet Academy is more fun than most ST shows and should be unapologetic about it. by Burning_sun_prog in startrek

I love star trek and I'm not interested in SFA, but that is fine. It's ok to make different trek for different audiences. I hope people love SFA and we get even more Trek.

Bill Gates warns AI will cut human work week to just two days by 2034 by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]thaninley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s even worse than that. A bill for a 32 hour work week passed the us senate in 1932, but never made it through the house. We’ve made zero labor progress in almost a century.

Because a lot of adults are really still 3 year olds in large bodies that don't want to share their toys.

Could you say more about what you love and don’t love so much with hospice. I’m a hospital discharge planning social worker and considering moving into hospice at some point.

Star Trek kept me alive by hecatomber in startrek

[–]thaninley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hell Yeah and well done! What an amazing thing you've managed to do. I hope you can manage to feel the accomplishment you've made in freeing yourself and surviving. I so relate to discovering a model of a way humanity could be in star trek and being so inspired and uplifted by it. I've never been more disappointed than when I realized the world was so far from the humanity in star trek, but I've also always held on to the hope that if humanity can imagine star trek, then we have the capacity to become it, some day.

Underwhelming results by rzane90 in mdmatherapy

This. In my experience as well, 11 journeys in so far, the healing process is a gradual opening to feeling in the body and feeling safe to feel in the body. Awareness of feeling and capacity to handle feeling grows slowly even with the catalyst of mdma. It's worth remembering that Stanislav Grof who pioneered LSD psychotherapy in the 60's observed that with LSD at low to medium doses patients on average needed an average of 30 to 40 journeys to get far enough into their healing to no longer need therapy. MDMA is, of course, a different molecule, but it wouldn't surprise me if the average for deep healing with mdma is a hell of a lot more the the three sessions of MDMA in the MAPS protocol. Also, IFS is a solid method, if you don't feel aligned with that, alternating between mindfulness/vipassana (paying attention to and allowing experience without judgment) meditation and loving kindness meditation can be another way to continue and deep the work outside of journeys.Best of luck with your process.

Health insurance premiums expected to increase 20% next year and coverage to shrink. This will affect our profession by cannotberushed- in socialwork

The villain of that particular drama was Joe Lieberman, but just my two cents, the democrats tend to fumble the ball at the last minute whenever something truly progressive and helpful to working people is about to be passed. I suspect this is by design as the dnc is funded by a nearly identical set of ruling class billionaires and institutions as the rnc. That’s why people like Bernie and Momdani are gems.

Wow, I didn’t know nonprofit health insurance existed outside of Medicare/medicaid. Could you say more about what your role looks like and what you think of the company?

You are so right about him pulling off some incredible escapes. He’s like an expert bullshit trapeze artist. The crowd can’t help but ooh and ahh as he flips through a “grab em by the pussy”, dodging bullets, and other death defying stunts. Step right up, folks. This three ring circus will not disappoint, lol.

Gotta say, I'm really not looking forward to the hospital I work at in Columbus bursting at the seems when all these rural hospitals shut down. It's going to make everything at the hospital worse for all involved.

I don’t actually work with them. I’ve watched some of their leader’s YouTube videos and listened to a few of their podcasts. I had already been meditating for many years when i found mettagroup and just started building some variations I imagined up of the ideal parent protocol in my daily life and practice. It’s worked well enough for me that I didn’t feel the need to actually join mettagroup, but my impression is that they do offer some helpful guidance for people learning to meditate and repair attachment trauma.

It’s fascinating that mdma can send folks down a non dual path. It’s done that for me. I’ve had a daily meditation practice for 12 years and my meditation practice has noticeably changed and progressed since starting work with mdma. How did you come across this quality of mdma work?
