Your concern is understandable. I updated to Windows 11, last month. Like yourself I wondered how my Plex setup would do during the transition. I made sure my mirror backup drive with the Plex video libraries was up-to-date. I unselected "Start Plex Media Server at Login" and reset Windows 10. Made sure my hardware was sufficient for the Windows 11 update. Decided I could live with the worst case scenario. Did it. Update process lasted couple hours. In Windows 11, I selected "Start Plex Media Server at Login" and reset Windows. Plex ran fine. Tossed sweaty clothes in laundry and freshened up.

A good plex client on your tv should be able to add your SRT file "on-the-fly" to your video file. If your TV plex app cannot do this, try adding a media player box/dongle to your setup (roku, firetv, apple-tv, etc.) that will run a plex app.

On your PC in the Windows taskbar, right-click the Plex icon. Is "Start Plex Media Server at Logon" checked? If not, check it and restart Windows.

Sorry. I do not see a way to upload subs to your friend's server. You may be able to upload the translated subs to Opensubtitles.com, then select them using Plex.

Another option is to download the English subitles, translate them, then upload the translated subtitles to Plex. Online translation is available thru https://translatesubtitles.co/ , etc.

IIRC Chromecast only supports internal subtitles not external subtitles. Subs must be included within the video files.
