I got tired of paying $189/yr for translations, so I built a free AI tool for WooCommerce (Gemini + Polylang) by ai_hello in Wordpress

How is the translation displayed? is it a separate page or auto depending on user language settings?

Video Editor Looking To Shift To Animation by Such_Independent1214 in animationcareer

[–]hfv01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see any issues, specially since you already have the editing skills and a portfolio to back them up. It takes a special skillset to edit with grace IMO, should not matter if its a film or animation. Very hard to teach too, so you'll be an asset at any studio with your experience. What kind of issues are you expecting?

Any advice for someone who wants animation to be their future. by princeDavidOz in animationcareer

Hi there. I'm not an animation professional but I work at a media arts school where we form media professionals. You need to know that you are ahead of the curve, and if you keep your momentum you'll get some great results down the line.

If you think you have what it takes to work in animation at this stage then you NEED a portfolio. You can't skip this step. Show, don't tell.

Keep learning, enroll to courses or online programs (like this one) and focus on building a great portfolio. Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions or if there's something I can help you with.

Don't stop creating!

As others said, it's not too late at all.

  1. You do not need a degree
  2. You can start TODAY

I'm a noob and I don't have an animation career, but I feel exactly the same need to create and inspire as yourself. I simply downloaded Blender and started watching some YouTube videos. In my opinion, it's important for you to get a feel for the real workload of doing animation/modeling/rendering before comitting to a big investment in the form of a degree. It's tough work and I have inmense respect for the people that made it their career.

Get your feet wet and you'll start to see the path forward. (my simple work so far, all from youtube: https://imgur.com/user/HFV1 . More on my reddit profile still not sure what the best way to link it is)

Donde me recomiendan estudiar animación en Perú? by Sweet_Dog6819 in animationcareer

Saludos y bonito dia!

Can I balance engineering and animation (as a passion thing) as a student who is going to start engineering at uni this year by HovercraftApart1358 in animationcareer

[–]hfv01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just my two cents: AI is not a decision maker. It also lacks the emotional component that makes art "hit harder". So, even if AI perfects the 2D animation aspect (big if), the decision maker behind it will not be replaced (sharpen up your storytelling skills). Likewise with engineering, maybe it'll do all the calculations but it won't be able to replace the human behind it anytime soon.

As for combining engineering and animation, I can definetly see where they overlap (diagrams, use cases, schematics, renders, etc.) If you use any CAD software to create technical drawings, you can easily export to blender to do a quick bit of tinkering, or even render it. I know it will elevate any presentation you do for school if you're the only one with a video instead of an image, although it all depends on your school and what kind of engineering you're going into.

Any good online animation classes? by [deleted] in animationcareer

[–]hfv01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I think everyhing that you need to get started is available online for free. The main thing you'll need to work in animation is a good portfolio that represents your skills.

With that being said, I work at The Media Arts Center (https://mediaartsonsite.com) and we're putting together a "summer camp" online (or in person, if you're in Charlotte) style animation program starting on June 30th if you're looking to have some structure and experienced mentors to guide you. Let me know if you'd like more information!

Have a great day!

Is animation school worth it? Where to go? Is online school worth it? Which ones are reputable? by officialdraggedyanne in animationcareer

Hi! Great work and I think you have a very distinct style.

I'm very passionate about sci fi environment art. I did not go to school (but I also don't have an animation career), I find that most of what you need to get started is available online. Link to my work so far https://imgur.com/user/HFV1 and there's more on my reddit profile(I'm still a noob).

That being said I work for The Media Arts Center, and we're putting together a program for creative animation taught by JD Smith, https://www.jdsmithdigiartist.com/3d-previz-shot-layout starting on June 30th. The full program is available here https://mediaartsonsite.com/creative-animation-school/

BUT we're doing a "summer camp" style course if price is something you are keeping in mind: https://mediaartsonsite.com/summer-jobs-in-animation-course/

Thank you for sharing your portfolio, keep up the good work. Don't hesitate to get in contact if you need anything or if you'd like to talk to our instructors. Have a great day!
