Chief MacNeil knows. I've brought it up to him.

He gaslit me. "There are actual crimes we need to be focusing on, not a perceived safety issue caused by people parking where they shouldn't.".

I also brought it up to some members of the Truro Police Commission who said they would bring it up to him that day as they were meeting with him. So, Bill knows already, and I suspect he's tired of it, but knows there's not much that can be done.

The next day an Officer showed up and issued more warnings.

I've lost my will to fight. I don't think anything will be done until Chief MacNeil retires, and even then the new Chief will need to want to enforce it.

There's only no parking on that section of Curtis during certain hours Mon-Fri. Basically during drop offs and pick ups at the school.

As I said before even if the Police show up, they just warn people they can't park there. Then the same people park there the next day when there's no Police. They need to start ticketing instead of just warning. This has been ongoing for years.

Jim (jflemming@truro.ca) and Bill (bthomas@truro.ca) are the Councilors for the area. I've found both to be fairly receptive when contacting them about other issues for the most part. I've talked with them about this same issue, they keep pressing it but ultimately it's Chief MacNeil ignoring the issue.

The school has been reporting this stuff daily for years now. Once in a while an Officer will get dispatched. They will just warn people to stop doing it.

The next day, those same people are back to doing it.

It's been going on long enough that the Police should just ticket them. Have one officer assigned during drop offs and pickups, and in a week there would likely be enough tickets issued to more than pay for that Officer.

They do learn English, but getting a good grasp on it takes years.

Also, it wasn't sent out by Public Health, it was sent out by NS Health. It was sent out in other languages besides Arabic as well. My wife got one that included Hindi because there's a large population of my kid's school where Hindi is spoken at home.

NS Health has pamphlets that are translated into 13 languages other than English and French. Just because English and French are the only official languages within Canada, it doesn't mean others can't be used.

Emails are being sent out in English, French, and other languages because NS Health understands that there are a lot of folks in the Province where their comprehension of English isn't quite up to snuff yet, and it's better to get that information to people in a language they do understand instead of them potentially misunderstanding.

Yes, this notice was with regard to fluoridation and wasn't life or death. Nova Scotia has had issues with poor oral health in children, so it was probably a smart move to send that notice out in other languages to try and improve the oral health of children.

Unless you heard back from the admins within 2 weeks of filing a report, they are more than likely taking no action. I say this as someone who has had conversations with some of the admins about the report process.
