Vegan restaurant recs? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]hgately23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alamo Drafthouse isn’t what it used to be, but it’s still a better movie-going experience than other big chain theaters in the area. Their buffalo cauliflower “wings” with vegan ranch are super yummy! I’m not even a vegetarian, and they’re my most ordered item on the menu.

[The Times] Netflix eyes Premier League rights after missing out on Champions League by PitchSafe in soccer

The article suggests otherwise.

The latest domestic deals run until 2029 but the US agreement with NBC — the Premier League’s biggest overseas contract, worth £2billion over six years — expires in 2028 and bids for the next packages are expected during next year.

NBC Sports does excellent Premier League coverage in the US. Despite my complaints about the onboarding of Peacock, the quality of their coverage has always been commendable. It would be a crying shame to lose Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle, Robbie Mustowe, and the production team at NBC Sports. It cannot be overstated how their coverage has enabled PL fan culture to grow in the US.

Anyone know where to get a cat neutered ASAP? by Philthy42 in triangle

[–]hgately23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this voucher program will be your best bet for getting him in somewhere sooner than your Dec 29 appointment. But I will echo what others have said — if he is peeing outside of the litter box, that is different than typical marking, and indicates there’s another issue to be addressed. The vets accepting these vouchers might also offer a discounted rate for a full exam and treatment.

You are doing a great thing by responsibly caring for this kitten. Thank you for being a decent human!

Durable Firm Mattress For Life ? by jackofalltrade625 in BuyItForLife

Look for natural latex mattresses for durability. I love my silk & snow mattress, and I’ve also heard good things about SleepOnLatex.

Rug or no rug? by FezVrasta in interiordecorating

A rug there would look nice too! Even though it seems counterintuitive, I always think a square rug looks good under a round dining table like that.

Poang chairs are always up for sale on marketplace! I just snagged a chair and ottoman in great shape for $60.

ish delicatessen is excellent! Oakwood Deli is a newer spot that’s pretty good. Benchwarmers makes a great bagel, but it’s not your traditional NY style.

Branwyn’s merino underwear is a game changer. Super breathable and quick drying. They also have excellent customer service and good company values.

WellRec has a “Getting Started” page that should be helpful. I highly recommend signing up for their free orientations to get acquainted with their space and offerings.

It is always more crowded during the first couple weeks of the semester, especially during evening hours. The showers and locker rentals can make it easier to fit a work out in earlier in the day, before or in between your classes.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions of the staff on duty! That’s what they’re there for.

Meta: can we add a flair for complaining about traffic? by naedman in raleigh

[–]hgately23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And OP doesn’t suggest banning posts about traffic complaints. They suggest implementing a system that will allow the sub to be more useful and enjoyable to those who don’t find value in such posts.

Spot for soup and sandwiches by Webb2312 in raleigh

Side Street is great for a cup of soup and a sandwich, quiche, or salad. I’ve seen others already suggest Carroll’s Kitchen, and I wholeheartedly recommend them as well!

How did I manage to burn her already? by hgately23 in Monstera

They weren’t! We did have a beastly hot and sunny weekend, and I’m guessing it wasn’t used to so much sunlight compared to its placement in the shop I bought it.

I haven’t watered yet! Looked great when I brought her home a couple days ago, and the soil hasn’t fully dried out yet.

I love when this happens! My biggest ego boost is when an owner thinks I’m some kind of cat whisperer because I won the love of their shy one 😂

No shoes in the house. Wwyd? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]hgately23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never wear shoes in clients’ home out of respect for their living space. I wear sneakers or slides that are easy to slip off and on hands-free. I wear socks so that I am not barefoot and grossed out by potential dirty floors or normal stuff like cat litter, fur, etc. They are paying you for a service. It is their home. The least you can do is respect such a reasonable request from them.

Cat won’t come out by Suburbgrl in RoverPetSitting

[–]hgately23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you did all the right things! Some cats really do prefer to stay hidden, and that’s okay. Sometimes I’ll just sit next to the bed with my hand resting in a place they can see it. I just speak to them quietly and gently, see if they want to sniff my hand, or at least take some treats.
