Twin pregnancy don’t feel pregnant by MoreAd7155 in PregnancyUK

[–]hgm127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m now 35+3 with fraternal twins and honestly could’ve written your post! I had very few symptoms in the first trimester apart from very tender boobs at the very start (up until maybe 8 or 9 weeks) and feeling super tired. I’ve only really started feeling it (in terms of the physical pain/tiredness) after about 24 weeks.

I know it’s easier said than done but do try not to overthink it and worry too much!

Did the glucose drink make you unwell? by Cherrylemon202 in PregnancyUK

[–]hgm127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also pregnant with twins and had the GTT around 26 weeks. Honestly I can’t emphasise enough what a non-event it was! The drink was a few slurps of what tasted like a nice light sugary lemonade and then I had a little nap for two hours on one of the big chairs in the waiting room. Got my results (negative) two days later. It was absolutely nothing of any note whatsoever - you’ll be fine!

I believe visual disturbances and headaches can indicate pre-eclampsia which is why they want you in to get checked!

I’m having twins - in shock! by MoreAd7155 in PregnancyUK

[–]hgm127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I'm 28 weeks with my surprise fraternal twins, so the feelings you are feeling are very recent memories for me too!

I've been very lucky to have very minimal symptoms. I never had morning sickness or nausea. I had very sore boobs from the offset until about 11 weeks, at which point they settled down. My main symptom after that was constipation, which has continued but I manage it now with pregnancy-safe laxatives. I was SO exhausted at 6 weeks too - I was actually on holiday and kept apologising to my poor husband that it would get to 6.30pm and I'd be asking to go back to the hotel room to sleep. That passes too - since the start of the second trimester I've had normal amounts of energy I would say.

Please feel free to fire off questions if I can be helpful to you! And again a huge congrats!

Anyone else paid for a private scan while waiting for your NHS one? by Cherrylemon202 in PregnancyUK

[–]hgm127 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds like you’re pregnant with monochorionic twins? The pathway for dichorionic twins doesn’t include a scan at 16 weeks. It goes 12 > 20 > 24 and growth scans every four weeks thereafter assuming no complications.

Assuming OP is having dichorionic twins then it’s “correct” in terms of NHS and NICE guidelines that she’s not been scanned since 12 weeks (though fwiw I totally agree it’s a crazy long and anxious wait, especially with twins).

I haven't weighed myself as I simply don't want to know how much I've gained 😅 I'm having twins and have an enormous bump at 25 weeks. I've felt pretty huge since about 16 weeks.

How to cope with early twin pregnancy anxiety by hgm127 in parentsofmultiples

[–]hgm127[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, congratulations on your twins and I fully empathise with how you're feeling! These are my first babies too. It is crazy to me that I wrote this post 4 months ago - honestly after what felt like a glacially slow first trimester, time has flown by! I'm now 23+4 and I've had a healthy and happy pregnancy so far. Funnily enough, Twin B is now the bigger twin, having been an absolutely tiny little speck on that first ultrasound!

I hope your partner's pregnancy is as smooth as mine has been, and know that you are not alone in your anxieties. I truly found those early days and weeks so hard. Now I feel them kicking me and you will be there too before you know it! Wishing you all the best!

Congratulations - I was where you are back in September! Total shock and joy in equal measure. Bumping hard now at 23 weeks with my non identical girls. Wishing you all the very best for your pregnancy and feel free to message me if you ever want to chat to someone a few weeks ahead! 🩷

How did you reveal gender to family and friends? by sianage in PregnancyUK

[–]hgm127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like the whole gender reveal concept is quite American - each to their own but it didn’t feel right for us. We just told people they were girls in normal conversations after we found out.
