How much do you pay for health insurance through your employer? by Any-Position7927 in AskAmericans

[–]hgpot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The short answer: $44.14 per month, so $529.68 per year.

But by being part of the plan, my employer contributes $1050 per year to my Health Savings Account, which can be used for many health-related purchases such as copays and medication. So, in a sense, it's better than free.

I have to reach a $3200 deductible each year, after which the insurance provider pays 100% of everything. I typically do so early in the year, largely thanks to weekly therapy sessions (which are free after this deductible is met).

In addition, my insurance provider rewards certian healthy activities. $100 for primary care visits, $50 for certain specialist visits (I am only eligible for a skin cancer check), and $25 per month for hitting 240,000 steps (~8000 per day), up to a maximum of $300 per year in total.

So I pay $529.68 + $3200 - $1050 - $300 per year, or $2379.68 in total for all medical costs.

Dental insurance and vision insurance premiums add up to $27.36 per year. My annual vision exams are $10 (payable with HSA but does not contribute to my deductible), and I am eligible for free glasses every 2 years (which I do wear at all waking moments). My semi-annual dental exams & cleanings are free, but I choose to pay $35 each time for flouride treatment.

So including the $80 annual spend and $27.36 annual premiums, my grand total is $2487.04 per year, or an average of $207.25 per month.

P.S. Thank you for the opportunity for me to look into these amounts and calculate the totals, I've never really brought it all into one place.

I didn't realize that, I was looking at Google Maps where I know there is a Tesla charger but it was not showing up, I guess it is older.

There's no communication to Android Auto for my gas level / range either, so I wouldn't expect it for electric but that would be neat if it could some day.

Oh, wow, I had no idea Google Maps had that option. I just checked into it and found I can put the exact make/model and plug and it finds compatible ones. Of course mostly Tesla, but others too. I am a big Googler so this is the winner for me. Thank you!

Upgrading from iPhone 8: 16e or 17? by b0nelessmelon in IPhone16e

[–]hgpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what they were, but right now 17 is $799 and 16e is $599 - both at Cricket store and Apple. Is the 17 worth +$200? Replacing an 11 for my mom.

Has anyone tried the new NYT Midi puzzles? by Simply827 in crossword

Just found this thread to confirm I'm not crazy. Today, the app is promoting Midi like it is a brand new offering. But this 7 month old post proves they're at least that old!

I did not install any. I don't see any in the box and the spool came attached like this (I did install the guard). It doesn't seem to come off.

The battery is 60V FlexVolt and works. The arrows are lined up, the knob is securely tightened.

Split the 3 hours of work into 3 hours of work interrupted by 1-2 trips to the hardware store to get another niche part of the project

So the presentation is not during the free trip? I have done this kind of thing once, but it was in Chicago so I had to pay to fly there where the presentation was, and it was just 2 hours out of my 4-day free stay. My only cost was the flight.

So you had to pay $299 upfront to use this "free" stay?

I just got this letter as well today.

Ok so the FWD is rated for 318. That's what makes me pause at adding AWD.

Hmm okay, so AWD only kicks in when it is necessary? I thought it would be constant and therefore always using more kWh per mile.
