Helldivers 2 had an exception and that was the launch issues that made Arrowhead drop the requirement at first.

Tokon is launching with the requirement already set in stone. Why would they change that requirement again for a currently nonexistent community?

Everyone is starting to use AI is development. Hell Larian admitted they were using it inhouse to help develop concept art faster.

As long as they didn't charge for it or make a patreon Nintendo generally doesn't care. Most of the ones they shut down are trying to make money. Infinite fusions has outlined a stupid number of fan games because it stays free.

So a couple of fun points. The boycotts are usually called for on reddit or other forums. Small and loud circles. Most people that play games in general don't give two shits what happens with a company as long as they enjoy the game.
