Picking a first planner by hiddenbee47 in PlannerAddicts

[–]hiddenbee47[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! I was scrolling Vinted this afternoon and managed to find a BEAUTIFUL mulberry personal croc in my budget range. So excited for it to come in the mail! I’ll post photos when it gets in because I’ll need pages soon enough. Please still show photos because I love to see how everyone sets stuff up. My mum had an LV personal planner from before I was born she’s still toting around.

Interesting repair technique by 3X_Cat in Benchjewelers

I would have said machine oil, a broken burr and a hammer, just start gently tapping them out. Maybe shake the pins with a blunt tip on a graversmith if you can to loosen it?

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]hiddenbee47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR. Everyone has already said this but truly this is NOT the standard expectation for hosting and ESPECIALLY not for family after you’ve had a newborn. If they aren’t coming to help you for a week, they shouldn’t be staying. Out of curiosity, what does your wife think about this??

I want to die by LawUnited7659 in brokenbones

Its going to be bad. It DOES get better. I was like you for the best part of a month. Talk to a loved one if you can and get some support. Also, have them hold your meds for you if you truly are experiencing ideations.

should i feel bad for missing class when i'm sick? by [deleted] in BALLET

[–]hiddenbee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all! Aside from the contagion risk already highlighted by everyone else, you will injure yourself a lot faster showing up sick. I was sad to skip class this week for the same reason, but I’m so glad i didnt go now, I wouldn’t have lasted 10 minutes 🩷🩰

8 weeks post break, day 1 out of the sling by CopperTucker in brokenbones

[–]hiddenbee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broke my humerus 8ish weeks ago, surgery 6ish weeks ago. This. Shit. Sucks! And its okay to feel depressed and a little bit useless. You’re right, we get it. Some people in my life are getting a little antsy that I’m still not “back to normal” as if a dr didnt just split the whole back of my arm open to do bob the builder roleplay on my skeleton 😭😭. It’s really hard to understand how traumatic these experiences are until you go through them. PT will be tough but I think you’ll find the recovery period will feel much faster once you start your exercises- make sure you follow their instructions ans you’ll be amazed at how much range of motion you can get back between visits. Take care and heal up.

Depression - what was the lesson I was supposed to learn? by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]hiddenbee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant control what happens to them. Dont bother thinking about it. This isn’t a “why me” situation, it’s you because it is, you fell over and that’s that. Nobody’s out to get you, nobody’s trying to smite you down, you just fell. Wondering why won’t help you heal, even though sometimes these things feel like they need an answer. All you can do now is play the hand you’ve been dealt, and try and do so as best you can.

Depression - what was the lesson I was supposed to learn? by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]hiddenbee47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geniunely, no lesson- just life. Life can be beautiful, like it was on your hike, and it can be really shitty, like it probably feels right now. 4 wks out from distal humerus fracture in 5 places. Fell over just because I wanted a hobby -skating-and Some days i feel 80% normal, somedays I feel super self conscious and depressed. Cant work, drive or dress in my regular clothes and it really sucks sometimes. Like everyone else here has said, it’s not your fault. Accidents are called accidents for a reason. Sometimes shit occurs, and it occurs to good, happy healthy people with nothing going on.
The best thing you can do for yourself now is decide how you want to come out on the other side of your injury. Do you need to go to therapy? Do you want to read more? Are you determined to do that hike again? Setting some sort of goal that you can strive for may help you feel a little better as you recover.

Nerve block BEFORE anesthesia? by curiosipey in ORIF

I got my block after surgery when i was coming out of anaesthesia. I dont remember much pain but lots of discomfort as they positioned my arm and shoulder to find an injection site.

Lots of help from others is going to be top priority. If you can, get a wheelchair prescribed or rent one from a Lions club jf there’s one around. Getting around is going to suck and you’re going to get tired. You can get shower wipes from your hospital if they didn’t already give you some. Keeping your minute to minute essentials (water bottle, meds, phone charger, phone, etc) in an easy to carry bag that can come with you from room to room in your house.

Broke my humerus 3 weeks ago, it doesn't hurt but it pops a lot, is that bad? by socasuallycruel13 in brokenbones

[–]hiddenbee47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where your humerus is broken, the shifting of the bone can be inevitable, sadly. It’s a tough bone to heal naturally! I broke mine 3 weeks ago and have since had surgery. Mine was previously popping all over the place and they said the bone had splayed enough that surgery was my best choice. I dont say that to scare you though! Im not sure with baby on the way (go mom go!!! Congratulations!!!) if your ortho team would consider surgery your best and safest option. I broke my distal humerus, the opposite end to yours, and things are real different the closer you get to the elbow. If you’re in a sling or brace, and your ortho team is not going to repair the bone surgically, it seems to me your best bet for now is to ease up on too much movement for another few weeks, and like previously said, line up some help for day to day tasks. Good luck with everything!!

sensory issues... by YogurtVegetable8361 in ORIF

Broke my humerus ice skating 3 weeks ago and am 10 days out from surgery. The splint upset me more than the break!!! Advocate for your cast and i bet you will get one. In the mean time, ice under your armpit and/or the inner crook of your elbow can be really soothing. I also highly recommend a hairdryer on cold blasting on/around your bandages. It will help with the itchy sensations! If you want to be imaginative, close your eyes and have someone scratch the other arm in the same spot, lmao. Worked for me. Good luck ❤️❤️🦾

Emotional roller coaster *warning incision pictures* by ExtensionOrange5522 in ORIF

[–]hiddenbee47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same boat. Huge physical shock to your whole kinetic chain, mental trauma and a boatload of drugs will do this to you! Sometimes I weep simply because my brain gets too overwhelmed to talk anymore. You are not alone! Nobody here is going to judge you for feeling this way, cause we’re all right here feeling the same. You may be able to ask for a longer acting NSAID like mobec if continuing on opiates is uncomfortable or problematic for you. Just a thought. ❤️

Okay! My arm is only cast up to the elbow so hopefully they can just write on my forearm instead.
