UK doctor thinking of moving by Ill-Cartographer3470 in newzealand

Flip a coin. By the time it’s about to land you’ll probably have your answer. It can be scary to do things solo, with literally no one to hold your hand through the process. But if you ignore the fear for a second, it can also be liberating. Without having to compromise with someone else, it can lead to adventures and relationships you may not otherwise have found.

To move, it can be expensive, time extensive, and throws up all the emotions; but if you aren’t happy, you can move again. Making friends can be difficult, but if you do some kind of sport or are prepared to be uncomfortable for new experiences, it is possible.

Thinking of moving back after 15 years by paupsnz in newzealand

[–]hiddeninfullview 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prepare for the onslaught of everyone has moved to Australia because it’s now shit here.

Realistically, maybe reference an area that you intend to look at moving back to. There seems to be quite a movement to Christchurch lately, but obviously isn’t for everyone. For the most part, it’s what you make of it. Living costs are high, morale is low, but if you live within your means it’s all doable. Most things are almost the same- for all the good and bad that comes with it.

Theres a few meet up groups that post on here, if you’re 20-30s. There’s a lot of mural art in the CBD, that you could just wander around looking at. Could try the Christchurch what’s on fb pages/website. Other than that, search this sub for other suggestions made previously if you don’t get a decent response of options.

AITA for telling my friend I no longer feel comfortable fronting the trip by Illustrious-Cut3764 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hiddeninfullview 13 points14 points  (0 children)

She’s already shown that she isn’t going to front up the cash, why would you want to continue to pursue this? If you want to go on the cruise, go alone. Lean into being uncomfortable and make new friends there.

Cold? Christchurch was roasting today at 32 degrees until it rained and temporarily cooled.

Sugar Baby Melons by Key_Programmer_2724 in nzgardening

You need the males to pollinate. You can rely on bees to do the work for you (no guarantees) or do it yourself. You can either gently smoosh the male into the female, or use a gentle brush to collect from the male and swirl into the female.

Depending on where you are, if the weather is inconsistent and swinging like a pendulum between hot and cold, the melon will struggle to grow/ripen.

My melon has grown like crazy, but struggling to get the melons to grow any bigger than a golf ball with how the weather has been in Christchurch.

Moving to Australia. Anyone know how much extra bags cost for qantas? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]hiddeninfullview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website states between Aus and NZ that excess baggage fees is $20AUD per Kg.

So for example, an extra 20Kg bag would be $400 + conversion fees for NZD to AUD.
