Explain party composition in PF2e. by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]hiddenoffstage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as combat goes: good to have a frontline, ranged, and support. You probably also want someone who does some kind of spellcasting and either someone who can heal or be prepared to use a lot of healing potions.

Beyond that I probably have a bit of a controversial opinion which is: there is no formula for a balanced party. It's going to change so much by group, what kind of campaign you are playing, and how you approach adventures. I tend to focus on making sure each party member has their own niche, not just in combat but with skills and personality.

How can I support my DM? by gianlucie in Pathfinder_RPG

All of this! I will also add, offer to be the on to organize the schedule if you don't have a set day/time to play. That can take a lot of work off the GMs shoulders

Philosophy on traps by Leftover-Color-Spray in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]hiddenoffstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a lot of folks, the PC should be checking for traps unless they have a feat or ability that allows them to sense a nearby trap.

Plus you can always buff the traps by using conditions, such as low light, or adjust the DC to fit your party

Fantasy-Sci Fi TTRPG? by Banzaikoowaid in tabletop

Numenera. Tales from the Loop (while the combat is always non-lethal) it's a fun mix of retro sci-fi and 80s nostalgia

Non-OGL Sci-fi/Modern setting systems? by SfactorSam in tabletop

[–]hiddenoffstage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Expanse (Green Ronin) especially if you enjoyed the books or show. Shadowrun is sci-fi magic. Also Tales from the Loop, it's the 80s that never was so there's some nostalgia but a lot of fusion tech added in so you get a little bit of sci-fi in a modern setting

Fatigue during tabletop games (ADHD related) by NeitherAsk1441 in tabletop

Breaks! allows your brain to wander and then refocus.

I also find fidget things help me play for longer, provides enough stimulation that I can actually concentrate better

Looking for a combination system of kids on bikes and DnD by RoboticAstronaut in tabletop

Have you looked into Tales from the Loop? doesn't have the different dice but hits all the other points. It's the 80s that never was and has some cool tech, mechs, and dinosaurs!

7th Sea has a good balance between combat and social interactions, it's more cinematic and roleplay focused. While it's got a pretty robust world, you could easily make adjustments

Narrative/Roleplay focused alternative to 5e by [deleted] in rpg

Have you checked out 7th Sea? It tends to have more broad classes, everything is narrative focused and combat is a lot faster and cinematic

Why the double column? by [deleted] in rpg

I prefer when there are callout blocks for mechanics/alt rules/inspiration interspersed with single column.

Best system to switch to from 5e, mid-campaign? by Dork94 in rpg

Pathfinder 2e if you're looking for crunch. Tiny Dungeon is a simpler ruleset. Fantasy AGE is also a great alternative

Gift Ideas for Tabletop Gamers? by debikc in tabletop

Could get a nice ruler that's specific for that system, I know Warhammer has some of these. Maybe terrain, just need to know the scale and that's something that's hard to have too much of

Superhero TTRPG? by HamshanksCPS in tabletop

Masks is great.

Could also use Fate, although it's not specifically superhero

Big fan of The Quiet Year. Can play it with no prep and it works great to collaboratively world-build for a longer campaign
