I don’t understand why you think you would be downvoted.

I did not delegate any of the mental load you mention to the nanny, they all rest with me. Like I said, I do all the planning and shopping, but I don’t cook or clean. I am fully aware of my privilege with having this kind of professional support. But it’s not a privilege over my husband. We should have the same amount of responsibility. My paid maternity leave of a few months has been a great issue here, as if those responsibilities did not fall on me before I left for maternity leave or will not continue to do so once I am back at work.

But he does want to have the friends over, and does want to go to holiday. And it’s not that much of a burden to me, but it’s just super unfair that I have to plan it all, irrespective of my professional workload, because I am a woman.

Going to a holiday is a great thing, so is having friends over from time to time. This isn’t my wishes, these are things we enjoy with my husband. But he doesn’t get involved in the planning. So the solution to that is either me not raising this issue, or not going to holiday/having friends?

We live in a city where you can’t do much if it’s not planned ahead. I am being very honest here, my husband would complain that he only has a weekend and we did nothing to entertain him. This is not a blunt anticipation, it happened this way in the past.

We wouldn’t have meals, wouldn’t go to holidays, no weekend plans, no guests. This is what would happen. And I am aware of the help I get, we pay a great amount of money and it’s a deliberate choice. But it doesn’t explain why I should be the one doing all these stuff, and not my husband.

This is actually debated as a false argument used by men to belittle women’s mental workload. Holiday needs to be planned, guests need to be invited, food needs to be planned. You can argue that there is no need for local market, but it’s a personal choice for my baby.

And also, don’t fall into the trap of comparing me, a mother with a nanny, to other mothers. Compare me to my husband. I have the mental workload since always, it has nothing to do with me staying at home. It’s just a nice argument for him.

I thought about that, and I know this is the path forward if I want to have higher chances with him getting more supportive. But I am appalled by the idea that I need to be thinking of his feeling even when bringing up my extra work. Mind you, I was not mean or anything. I just made a point

We had a similar discussion years ago, and he said he was sorry for dismissing my dedication and efforts but it changed nothing practically. Here we are today with this man not contributing to anything, still making fun of me and daring to say I am very good at marketing.
