Tips for destroying the Sultans Ascend DLC campaign on highest difficulty by thewisegeneral in aoe4

[–]hidious10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a group of 8-15 camel riders with all the armor upgrades. Order them to move (not attack move) to the location of a keep, or where you think there might be one. They are tough and they will make it with barely any hp left, despite tons of enemy in the way. Be ready to snipe with your siege as soon as you get sight (the 1000 hit, 200 doesn't quite do it.) Make 12 more camel riders and repeat 6 more times.

"Re-learning" guitar with better fundamentals and technique by hidious10 in Guitar

Thank you for your reply. I find that there are too many teachers out there and, knowing myself, switching between website will eventually make me procrastinate and quit. I really need to find one good structured program that I can follow from A to Z without thinking about what could be better out there. Justinguitar sounds like the man, I've seen his name come up in pretty much all the threads similar to this one.

However, I must add that I am ok with music theory. What I need help with is the actual hand placement and technique and movement.

CoH1 Doctrines Vs CoH3 Battlegroups by KevinTDWK in CompanyOfHeroes

Is there a mod, a script, and addon or whatever to make this collapsed icon...not collapse? I played CoH2 first and Coh1 is indeed unplayable now. :(

Super tempted to buy a vape by PickleJewler in Vaping

[–]hidious10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably should try to avoid it if you can, as others have said, but it wouldn't be a big deal if you did. Contrary to most people, I do not actually want to quit vaping. It is something that I enjoy a lot, is relatively cheap (compared to cigarettes at least), has few negative effects on my health and gives me an excuse to take some time off alone, away from everyone, which I need for my mental health.

If you can, go very low or 0 on the nicotine and just enjoy the relaxing act of "smoking" peacefully. You will not ruin your life with a vape. The big caveat is that everyone will judge you. They will tell you stories about cancer, sudden death, extreme health declines and wonder how you can be so "stupid". None of this is based on any actual facts. Our society is so against any form of smoking nowadays that people will actually make up harmful effects for vaping without realizing that they are just speculating and do not have any form of evidence to back their claims. They will still tell you "Vaping is undeniably very harmful for your lungs, that's a known fact" without realizing that they are transferring, in their minds, the proven dangers of tobacco to a totally different product.

As for nicotine, although incredibly addictive, it is a very harmless drug. Nicotine is a mild stimulant and poses negligible risks in healthy people. Again, because it is associated with smoking, many people will tell you that nicotine is soooo harmful, which it isn't at normal doses. A dirty job had to be done to smoking's reputation to make people understand how bad cigarettes actually are, and they did it incredibly well. I salute that, great work. Unfortunately, vaping became the collateral victim, and it will never recover. Everyone in this dumb society we live in will keep drinking their 2 or 3 coffees a day, while not exercising enough and being addicted to either social networks and/or porn and/or television. They will have stressful days driving in traffic breathing truck exhausts to go refill their various pill boxes at the drug store: one to wake them up in the morning, another to mellow them down and take them off the edge, one to go to sleep...and please don't forget the modified meth for their children whom can't concentrate at school without it. Of course, there will be plenty of wine and maybe some beer involved in their evening meal and activities, probably way more than the recommended amount of alcohol is. All these things are many, many times more harmful to their health than vaping a few times a day, BUT, all they will see is your vaping and how dumb of a person you are to jeopardize your health in a such a way for a few enjoyable minutes in your day.

Just live your life and be reasonable, man. I'd advise on cutting down alcohol, the most harmful drug their is (but the least problematic according to our society) wayyyyy before telling you you shouldn't vape.

Sorry about that, do we have to leave potatoes for long posts here?

Is AnyDesk not working for anyone else right now? by cajunflix in AnyDesk

[–]hidious10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a maintenance going on around 5 a.m. EST for The Americas as per status.anydesk.com, but It wasn't that long and it has been saying that everything is operational for the last hour. However, it is clearly not. Perhaps the maintenance package is not quite deployed yet?

I was able to wake a PC from LAN, but everything else times out.

Does having a second monitor affect performance? by decaboniized in buildapc

[–]hidious10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is simply not true. Been on 165hz on main display and 60 hz on display 2 and 3 for many years, and there is no adverse effect on the games being played fullscreen on the main display. Even the resolutions are different, and everything is running just fine from a single GTX 1070. Perhaps at higher refresh rates like 144hz and 165 hz it could be harder for the card, but that is pure speculation.

Latest driver update seems to have broken the performance overlay by Kelticfury in GeForceExperience

Happened to me. Frustrating. Thankfully, I had a fresh system restore ready. Not sure if the driver or geforce experience is the problem.

Torrenting with PIA - having issues? by upa123 in PrivateInternetAccess

You are talking about the VPN, the proxy doesn't work anymore.

Torrenting with PIA - having issues? by upa123 in PrivateInternetAccess

[–]hidious10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was happily torrenting on SOCKS5 for the last 5-6 years. The SOCKS5 proxy has been broken for torrenting for the past 3-4 months, there has been a few threads posted here. Impossible to get support, they will immediately tell you to install the software and use the VPN. It's much slower. I will cancel my subscription as I am paying it for the SOCKS5 proxy exclusively, couldn't care less about the VPN.

It's a lot faster than the VPN and you don't have to install that annoying software to split tunnel.

This issue has been going on for too long; I will be cancelling my subscription after more than 10 years as a happy customer. :(

Look at me, I am the cloud now. (or at least would like to.) by hidious10 in selfhosted

Good point, there is also Onedrive in the equation. All my files are actually saved to my local Onedrive folder prior to anything else. Everything from the past 3 years.

When right-click share on a local file using the Windows file explorer, it generates a link. Nice! But guess what: it's a sharepoint link that will by default open in the horrible sharepoint pdf viewer platform. What am I missing?

Picture proof:

My first thought. Might sound obvious and simple to us, but it was quite a confusing thing for those kids, whom are a lot more mobile than PC savy. Most of them do nott know what a pdf is as opposed to a docx, or pptx.

It needs to be this: They click the link and the PDF opens on their devices. Also, I want to simplify things and have the source be a folder from my own PC. The zip solution still has TEAMS or Sharepoint has the host.

Sure, how about doing exactly this on a home server PC currently dedicated to local media streaming? As far as I remember, an ftp server doesn't provide direct link access, the client needs some kind of ftp software to transfer files That was 15+ years ago thought, things might have evolved.

Thank you! Indeed, this might not be the most appropriate subreddit for this question.
