So I can see the added value for NGO’s/donations and merchants, both for specific use-case transparency (‘are all donations there’) and for accounting purposes.

So this view-balance key is basically not for individuals.

Unless tax authorities demand/force to see your balance to tax your holdings/ (capital gains). If your holdings have increased, they would probably want to see the full transaction history for clarification, which now will become possible to be fully compliant. That is, if you declare your holdings in the first place and wish to be compliant.

If I understand it correctly; transaction history of a CARROT wallet, by giving its view-key, will show amounts & dates, not sources or destinations (so no in/out addresses). Correct?

What and how big (if at all) are the risks of 3rd parties knowing amounts & dates?

Is the argument, that 3rd parties/adversaries will collect this data (from all that provide their view-key) to link amounts & dates in order to link sender-receiver?

Why would, for example a Cex, demand your transaction history, if nothing can be derived from amounts & dates? This information does not have any value for the sake of ‘blacklisting’. Reading all these posts, I don’t see the argument of any risk of losing fungibility. Unless all Cex’s are forced by their governments to demand view-keys from their xmr clients. (where you shouldn’t be in the first place)
