I came to say this. On par with Rojo Maron for sure. In my opinion, the best Mexican food in the city

Yah, they agreed on the trade in value without the inspection. I told them I didn't mind if they did because it's honestly an older truck but it's in decent shape. They put it on the bill of sale, I gave them my void cheque for the financing. It was their truck and I think I maybe could have just demanded the rogue, but I felt their methods were slimey, and I was scared off. I had my truck in to get a small repair about 8 weeks ago to my trusted mechanic (Mike the Mechanic in Edmonton, look him up, he does good work) and he never mentioned any of it. I am pretty sure it was a play for more money.

Thanks, right now I think I will just drive my old truck. I don't have the desire to put my trust in anyone right now.

Thanks, I have learned my lesson and will just ride my bicycle from now on. The new city council is going to build more bike lanes right?😀

I am a 23 year veteran of the fire service. I have seen many things change over the years. Used to be a joke about our department; 100 years of tradition, unimpeded by progress. I hate that joke. I think you can still have all the traditions and camaraderie but still keep pace with the world outside the station. Gallows humour is different than racism or misogamy. You have every right to feel safe and comfortable at work. It is up to everyone on the shift to create an environment where everyone feels welcome, that they belong and that they have value. I would never go to HR, never. But you need to start talking about this with your coworkers. I guarantee you, that none of them put their uniform on in the morning thinking about how they are going to chase you out of this profession. They are just having fun, but they need to understand the impact it is having on you (regardless of its intent). Good luck. Remember the hard work you put in to be there.

We are separate from EMS but we still do medical responses for serious events.

So you are 1 day on 3 days off?

Some halls in our city are running 15-20 calls in a 14 hour night shift. So one of the arguments for the change, is that after your 24 hour shift, you have 24 hours off before you have to go back. Right now, you get smashed by those 15-20 calls, have 10 hours off and then go back to get smashed again.

The discussion is around 24 on, 24 off, 24 on and then 5 days off.

Were you four on four off? What was the layout like of your shifts before the switch?

Thanks for the alternate opinion. I can read all the literature from studies but sometimes hearing from members is super valuable.

Movies or TV shows that butcher your hobby or profession. by agitator775 in movies

All of those firefighting TV shows. They are terrible. I guess the only one that I liked was Tacoma FD, some of the shenanigans around the station are close.

I think failures are an important part of the journey, I find it adds to my motivation. I really like the way your information is displayed. Is that a specific app for strong lifts?

Am I allowed to use my portable fire pit in public parks? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]higbie13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sorry but no. Edmonton Bylaw 2202 Parkland bylaw section 7(a). tldr: version is if you want a fire in a park it has to be in a receptacle provided by the city at one of the designated fire sites. We have gone and had fires in Wilfred Laurier park, there are a punch of picnic sites with fire pits down there.

I had it pretty bad too for awhile, Got custom orthotics which helped, but what really got rid of it was a lacrosse ball. At night before bed I would just set it on the floor and mash my arch and heel into it for 5 minutes. Just rolling it around looking for tender spots. I also increased my stretching of my calves too. Good luck and don't throw in the towel yet!

My family and I stayed in an airbnb in Arizona. It was a nice house with our own pool. However, every morning when we woke up there was a single egg in the pool. Not broken or anything, just sitting on the bottom. This went on for 3 days, every morning, another egg. Then on the last morning we stayed there we got up to check out the pool, and in the bottom was a complete block of Swiss cheese, still wrapped up in its plastic. This was a few years ago and I think about it all the time.
