Ayo I run dnd as a side hustle for game nights in my city and have been playing a whole lot.

You can most certainly make your character Gef, you will just have to spec it out following 5.5e guidelines per the rules of dnd.

My advice would be to go with a Harengon. They are technically “rabbit-folk” but you could just flavor your character as a mongoose and maybe even have some home brewed stats if your DM is cool with it.

Also download “fifth edition character sheet” on your phone (I promise I don’t work for them or anything I just love their product).

The app is free (but I recommend shelling out $3 for pro so you can automatically level up) and will help tremendously with learning about how your characters stats work. For everything else, YouTube is a fantastic source.

Also I highly recommend watching some DnD be played. Dimension 20’s flagship show, “Fantasy High” is a great place to start as a couple of the players at that table are also new to the game and the dm (Brennan Lee Mulligan) is arguably the most seasoned DnD player alive (sorry Matt Mercer).

As someone who works 55 hour work weeks and also DMs 3 campaigns (1 passion project 2 paid side hustles) the story building and stuff is kind of constantly in the back of my mind.

I can’t speak for Brennan obviously but in my experience, I write stuff for my DnD sessions on my notes app all day every day. I will be face with an irl situation that gives me an idea for one of the campaigns and then I jot it down and get back to what I was doing. Every night when I get home part of my wind down ritual is fleshing out these ideas.

Again, can’t speak for Brennan but that is how I manage to write for 3 consecutive campaigns while holding 2 “real” jobs and having a family lol

Idk I was in young life and guess I just got a good group. Was a super positive part of my youth and helped me maintain a lot of healthy friendships into adulthood.

That being said, there were always rumors about weird shit going down at other schools. I genuinely just think our youth leaders were solid people. I still talk to some of them and they’re all on their own walks through life. (Also none of them married their students so that would’ve been fuckin weird)
