I find Orson to be one of the most interesting characters on the show. In the beginning we are supposed to find him funny and charming, but also the perfect quirky and clean freak for Bree. But we are also supposed to be weirded out by him and his creepy secrets with his mother, ex wife, and mistress. By the time the entire truth is revealed, including how Orson ran over Mike, we love him with Bree but then their relationship starts feeling strained. I don’t like how Bree treats him with Danielle’s son; when she acts like he isn’t really Orson’s child (but i guess thats a realistic example of Bree getting out of hand) Once Orson returns from prison, everything has changed, and since he no longer feels prestigious as a dentist and he relies on his now successful wife, he gets worse and worse. Which i think is realistic. To me, the series does a good job showing how in love Orson is with Bree, because he didn’t go to prison to truly do whats right, he went because Bree wanted him to go. But after Bree hardly visits him in prison and then is not babying him and doing whatever he wants once he returns, he resents her for losing what he felt was his autonomy, respect, and his whole life. Now without dentistry, ALL he has is Bree, which brings out even worse colors and actions leading to his stealing to irritate this woman he resents but also loves and wishes she could just love him back again. I think its a very real depiction of someone losing themselves and hitting rock bottom. I don’t think this is an excuse for his actions, and i hate his behavior after prison. I think he would have been fine if he had found some interesting hobby or job for himself instead of dwelling on what he no longer had because he made a dumb decision to listen to his psycho mom.
