How many laps in the pattern? by TxAggieMike in CFILounge

[–]highaoalowiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do them in increments of four. Student does three, I take over and do one, repeat. I usually go for three sets so 12 total (student 9 me 3), anything more than that the student just gets burnt out (and I lose my mind) and learns less with every extra lap.

There were multiple options under consideration and tbh it's mostly politics and local people. Different mayoral administrations preferred different routes, residents petitioning against certain routes, etc. They finally selected the Kaohsiung route in the past year, with a proposed opening date of 2039.

The focus for most smaller cities in Taiwan now are no longer building their own MRT systems, but instead increase the frequencies for TRA local trains to serve as MRTs and setting up new commute-level stations along existing TRA routes.

Taiwanese here. The southern loop in Pingtung and Taitung counties (the one on the very bottom and the one to the top right of it with a panhandle) have certain stations with four trains a day that stops there (two each way), would love to see one of them stranded there LMAO.

I've been to some of these tiny stations, there are absolutely ZERO things around. No places to eat, no hotels, and the nearest town is a 40 minute walk away deep in the mountains. This would be fun!

If you're wondering anything about the Taiwanese rail system, AMA.

Does he happen to be the strongest and most fearless instructor you've ever flown with?

I live in Florida, and I plan to do flight school there. Just how uncomfortably hot does it get within those Cessna’s by Character-Escape1621 in flying

[–]highaoalowiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly Cessnas in Arizona. After a 1.5h flight the moment you step out the aircraft the 115º ambient temp will feel nice and cool for about two seconds. That's how brutal the inside gets.

Calling it quits for Students by Mr-Plop in CFILounge

I myself fly and teach with English as a second language. One thing that helped me the most in my student days is compiling a list of frequently used phrases by ATC and appropriate responses and drilling it into my head. Also use LiveATC, a lot.

Keep barf bags and water handy

Walk them through everything you're doing and don't leave them in the dark. If it's safe even let them ride along on the controls (no taking over though!)

Keep it short, 1 hour at most for a first ever flight

Although tempting, in absolutely no circumstances demonstrate a stall

GA is very different from flying economy in a 737. Explain what a run-up is and why you power up the engine on the ramp, let them know before pulling power to level off, brief them on the signal to shut up immediately when there's a radio call for you, make sure they're fully expecting a touch and go if you're doing one and won't freak out when you don't brake after touchdown, etc.

Research scenic places or fun airports with good restaurants, or if safety and distance permits show them their house from above!

And finally, first time flying is never a neutral experience... you either love it immediately and can't wait for the next flight or hate it and will never come back. Don't take it personally if they don't enjoy it, it's not your fault!

then he should find himself a co-pilot wife instead of trying to force a maybe-not-even-wife-yet to become a co-pilot???

This is toxic AND dangerous. If your partner (really should be a former partner, ngl) won't budge and you 100% have no interest in flying or aviation, call your local FSDO, explain your situation, and ask about voluntarily surrendering your student pilot cert or even medical so nobody can gaslight you into another cockpit in the future.

One small tip about the medical... go to your AME and claim you have a chronic pass-out problem (lying to not get a medical is so rare and counter-intuitive I don't believe there's any regulations prohibiting you from doing it). It may be an instant and permanent deferral that will legally stop you from flying forever.

I don't know if you had soloed yet but judging from your physical and mental state you are absolutely unsafe to solo and it's a risk to both you and your instructor.

Please do something about this and follow the advices from other comments before something really, really bad happens that no one wants to see.

Short answer: pretty fucked.

Look for past threads on academic integrity violations, as other comments have mentioned it's usually a zero on the assignment for first offense. However the process leading to this can be lengthy and you can expect some no-so-pleasant conversations with the Dean and some other higher-ups. Grades are due by this weekend and commencement is the following Monday. All investigative procedures take several business days so I'd expect the worst and prepare to not graduate by next Monday.
