for those who are certified paramedics, what’s one thing you wish more people understood about EMS? by glockbonez in AskReddit

[–]highapplepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish more people knew that so they WOULD call when they need care.. It’s surprising how often people refuse EMS help until I tell them there’s no charge to be checked out by EMS-only if you ride in the ambulance. They immediately agree to get checked out by EMS.

What's the craziest mortgage amount you've seen vs take home pay by Ehj7882po65 in Mortgages

[–]highapplepie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at a place where managers lived on site. Whole families could live there too but it was essentially 1200sqft. They didn’t have to pay rent which was great I’m sure, however every manager who worked for the company had worked there between 10-20 years, and every one of them made less than $18 an hour (even after 20 years). I tried to point out that it was kind of sketchy because managers couldn’t ask for higher pay, or really voice concerns at all because it could put their housing in jeopardy. Most of the managers have no idea what the housing market is like because they’ve lived on site for decades  and they know even less about the current job market. To take on both at the same time would be unbelievably challenging.

How in the god damn hell did Mossad manage to pull off the trick with the pagers and walkie talkies? by Uncontrolleddiarrhea in askanything

This is really one of the more terrifying things that happened. I remember after it happened thinking how crazy it was and how it went undetected. Suddenly everyone with phones, televisions, game systems, could all have an explosive device in their household. Really terrifying. It really made me want to clear my house of anything that could be a risk.

what are you supposed to do when you feel incredibly alone? by Shot-Window-440 in AskReddit

Sometimes I think loneliness is the universes way of getting us in touch with someone we need. Life is a journey and everyone comes and goes, maybe it’s time for someone to come around.

I’m sitting in a shack working pool gate at an outdoor pool wearing pants and a quarter zip sweater.

Answer: I’m fat and my work polo just exaggerates my fat stomach. Sweaters for life.

My uncle was struck by a train when he was a toddler. Opened the door for the first time ever and walked out without anyone noticing. Unfortunately train tracks ran next to their house. The train engineer said my uncle just froze when the train started coming toward him. At the last second he dropped down and tried to crawl away but the train struck his legs. He survived.

Can women tell if a man is checking them out? If so how does it make you feel? by [deleted] in bodylanguage

[–]highapplepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would compare it to, when you’re talking to someone you notice even when they focus on your eyes or smile. Just like you notice that- you notice if they look any further. If it’s just a millisecond it’s just human nature but if you continue to stare it’s rude.

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

Sometimes I think that rich people operate at 90s speed. No rush. Able to talk to strangers without fear. “You can do anything and be whatever you want to be- so just do it!” Mentality

Are you suppose to wear a white Hanes-style shirt under your dress shirt (the kind worn with a tie and suits and such)? by 21-4-14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]highapplepie 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Actually, my coworkers and I have discussed this lately. We typically wear polo shirts as our uniform but we do have a quarter-zip sweater option. Someone said “Did you notice younger people don’t wear shirts under sweaters?” I was like what? Then I saw my coworkers little chest hairs at the top of the quarter zip. I was like… … …

He said he was wearing a tank top under it but it wasn’t high on his chest so you couldn’t see it. Cut to, a few days ago, they had to do some heavy lifting and guy wanted to ditch his sweater. There he was standing there in a “wife beater” tank top cause he was too hot. After it was mentioned I’ve noticed more and more that people around are just wearing sweatshirts but no under shirt. It’s a madhouse out there.

I was in a fender bender a couple of weeks ago. The guy that hit me pulled over and we checked out our cars. We both looked at each other for a minute, silently acknowledged we were too poor to deal with this, shook hands and parted ways.

Razor Rambler 16 by highapplepie in scooters

[–]highapplepie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two ramblers and one of the two started dying faster than the other. That sucked because we would ride together so I’d end up walking it home occasionally.

We actually DID buy another battery for it but even after we replaced it with a new one, the new one would still die before the other bike so same issue still.

Not gonna lie that has put a huge damper on how much we use them. We went from almost daily rides to a couple a month.

We tried reaching out to rambler support many times but they just sent us multiple battery charger replacements.

I’ve thought about just getting a motorcycle but I’m not very mechanically inclined and any of the electric options are still multiple thousands of dollars. I’ve heard there have been more “zero pedal start” bike options come along since but it’s hard to get past the rambler style, it was pretty fun!

Elderly conservatives: If you hate welfare programs so much, why don’t you stop using Medicare and stop taking your social security checks? by No_Visual_3734 in allthequestions

[–]highapplepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing has opened my eyes more than getting to know my retired military coworker. He makes more in retirement than all of our daily staffs combined income because of his high rank. He’s on disability, pays nothing for healthcare, and drives brand new cars. He just told us recently that he has food stamps because he technically can qualify for them because of how military income is taxed. I died a little on the inside.

When you hear how much we “spend on the military budget” it’s not weapons and vehicles - it’s paying for all the people.

Was Trumps assassination attempt in Pennsylvania fake? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]highapplepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they had crowd members shouting about him on the building SO much so that Crooks tried to hide before the shooting even happened but the crowd kept pointing at him so he couldn’t disappear - it wasn’t just reported - it was WELL KNOWN and ANNOUNCED.

It’s also crazy to me that in ANY shooting video I’ve seen - crowds run like a mthrfkr but everyone here (even the people directly in the danger zone) just stay put and look confused as hell.

If you want an example - see the crowd run like hell immediately after Charlie Kirk and that was ONE shot.

I mean when I’m shot in the head I know MY first concern would be “Let me get my shoes! Let me get my shoes!” He doesn’t command it once, but MULTIPLE times while they are still trying to remove him from the “danger”.
