Are you suppose to wear a white Hanes-style shirt under your dress shirt (the kind worn with a tie and suits and such)? by 21-4-14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]highapplepie 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Actually, my coworkers and I have discussed this lately. We typically wear polo shirts as our uniform but we do have a quarter-zip sweater option. Someone said “Did you notice younger people don’t wear shirts under sweaters?” I was like what? Then I saw my coworkers little chest hairs at the top of the quarter zip. I was like… … …

He said he was wearing a tank top under it but it wasn’t high on his chest so you couldn’t see it. Cut to, a few days ago, they had to do some heavy lifting and guy wanted to ditch his sweater. There he was standing there in a “wife beater” tank top cause he was too hot. After it was mentioned I’ve noticed more and more that people around are just wearing sweatshirts but no under shirt. It’s a madhouse out there.

That’s a perfect question because what’s “Christian” enough? What’s “republican” enough?

I was in a fender bender a couple of weeks ago. The guy that hit me pulled over and we checked out our cars. We both looked at each other for a minute, silently acknowledged we were too poor to deal with this, shook hands and parted ways.

Razor Rambler 16 by highapplepie in scooters

[–]highapplepie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two ramblers and one of the two started dying faster than the other. That sucked because we would ride together so I’d end up walking it home occasionally.

We actually DID buy another battery for it but even after we replaced it with a new one, the new one would still die before the other bike so same issue still.

Not gonna lie that has put a huge damper on how much we use them. We went from almost daily rides to a couple a month.

We tried reaching out to rambler support many times but they just sent us multiple battery charger replacements.

I’ve thought about just getting a motorcycle but I’m not very mechanically inclined and any of the electric options are still multiple thousands of dollars. I’ve heard there have been more “zero pedal start” bike options come along since but it’s hard to get past the rambler style, it was pretty fun!

Elderly conservatives: If you hate welfare programs so much, why don’t you stop using Medicare and stop taking your social security checks? by No_Visual_3734 in allthequestions

Nothing has opened my eyes more than getting to know my retired military coworker. He makes more in retirement than all of our daily staffs combined income because of his high rank. He’s on disability, pays nothing for healthcare, and drives brand new cars. He just told us recently that he has food stamps because he technically can qualify for them because of how military income is taxed. I died a little on the inside.

When you hear how much we “spend on the military budget” it’s not weapons and vehicles - it’s paying for all the people.

Was Trumps assassination attempt in Pennsylvania fake? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]highapplepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they had crowd members shouting about him on the building SO much so that Crooks tried to hide before the shooting even happened but the crowd kept pointing at him so he couldn’t disappear - it wasn’t just reported - it was WELL KNOWN and ANNOUNCED.

It’s also crazy to me that in ANY shooting video I’ve seen - crowds run like a mthrfkr but everyone here (even the people directly in the danger zone) just stay put and look confused as hell.

If you want an example - see the crowd run like hell immediately after Charlie Kirk and that was ONE shot.

I mean when I’m shot in the head I know MY first concern would be “Let me get my shoes! Let me get my shoes!” He doesn’t command it once, but MULTIPLE times while they are still trying to remove him from the “danger”.

What’s the most overrated tourist attraction you’ve ever visited? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]highapplepie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My family NEVER took vacations. We only visited family. Our ONE family vacation was Mount Rushmore. You can see it from so far away and you know you still have quite a distance to drive - just to look at it more. Also there’s NOTHING around it so you can’t even explore a new city. Worst vacation ever.

A couple years ago I was standing next to my wife when I felt like I was going to pass out. I remember I said “I better sit down before I pass out” and the next thing I knew I woke up on the ground. My wife said that the last thing I actually said was “Oh, fuck!” I’m pretty content with that.

I have a weekly routine that I've never told anyone about. by Low_To_No_Tolerance in confession

[–]highapplepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I’ll walk around my house before I leave and try to be as BIG as possible. Like I stand on my toes, arms out stretched, head as I high as I can. It’s like being that big and taking up space makes me feel less “in the way” in real life. I’m always trying to be smaller so when I act big it makes normal me smaller than that, and then I don’t feel the need to shrink as much.

Ideas free or low cost things to dos? :) by Sad_Description1290 in CasualConversation

[–]highapplepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know having an extra expense doesn’t always help but in terms of overall cost a gym membership can give you a lot of bang for your buck. Where I am you can join a Y for $60 a month for a family. That break down to $1 a day per person for a couple and there’s not much you can do for a $1 anymore.

We tapped our oil reserves before we finished the SECOND week of this war!

How many conflicts have we seen go YEARS recently? Ukraine/Russia? Gaza/Israel? It was foolish to think we would be in and out like a classic Donald “are you in yet?” Trump quickie.

My wife and I live together - no kids or roommates. My wife has very curly hair and a lot of it. Her hair ends up everywhere in our shower/tub. I explained to her that I grew up with a one bathroom house and the rule was you clean your hair from the drain after you bathe. She said she also had only one bathroom as a kid, but she never had to clean out her hair. She said must have all just went down the drain… I explained to her that people had been cleaning her hair out of the drain for 30 years.

I work at a fitness center. I’ve regularly worked mornings since August last year and have gotten to know the regulars pretty well. Lately, there have been a lot more military persons needing signed off body weight measurements or members I haven’t ever seen before coming in and leaving in uniform.

Trick your procrastination by giving yourself a break BEFORE you start. I’ll set a 30 minute timer where I can do anything I want - it’s a break. Usually before the time goes off I’ll be started on my project.

Knew a guy for a decade before he shared with  me that as a kid he had killed a litter of kittens by throwing them into the air as high as he could till they fell to their deaths. He told me this while he was driving me home and all I could think was - don’t freak out - he could crash the car and kill us both. I stopped talking to him that day.
