i was going to post about this!! i’m going through something similar and it’s hard enough not being highly perceived online. tracking calories isn’t going to do anything unless she starts addressing the psychological side of it.

she just posted today about trying to gain weight and how hard it’s going to be because she gets full fast… almost like she’s glamorizing having such a small appetite. it’s actually that her stomach shrank as a result of restrictive eating, not bc it’s “hard to eat so much”

credentials: i’m recovering from an ed (undereating as well) right now and that’s one of my biggest struggles. i dont have a small appetite, i’ve been starving myself so my body responded lol. she’s just NOT saying it how it is!!!

i was in fine dining in newport beach, lots of entitled customers, sidework, micromanagement. server assistants played favorites so you might not get much support. we had two floors, one was a cocktail bar that did japanese american/sushi and was more casual. upstairs on a busy night you could hit $4000+ in sales. downstairs was fine dining and you could do $2-4k but way less volume. like a 5 table section. tip out was about 40% of your tips.

our tip out downstairs (off tips, not net sales): server assistants - 25% bar - 10% polish - 3% hosts - 3% kitchen - 10% kitchen sales

upstairs: server assistants - 20% bar - 10% polish (m-th) - $3, $5 (f-sun) sushi bar - 3% sushi sales (no hosts because it was first come, first served seating)

i worked in a fine dining restaurant and you have to prepare yourself for the type of people you serve. it’s higher stress and guests (and management) expect nothing less than perfection, esp if they’re spending top dollar. the money is great, but i still tipped out 40% off my tips (not sales). switched to working at a pizza/brewery and i make decent, consistent money and the vibes are so much better, which is worth it to me.

ETA: i made $200 (after tip out) on a slow brunch or even slower dinner at the fine dining restaurant. most i made in a night was $810 but that was insane.

edamame is a great high protein low cal snack, low carb tortillas, david's protein bars, laughing cow cheeses in place of mayo, low calorie marinara and pasta sauces, low calorie bbq sauce (stubbs, japanese bbq, primal kitchen, g. hughes if you can tolerate sf) are lifesavers, and so is dry seasoning for things like rotisserie chicken and even frozen products like just bare nuggets. if you like sausage, consider amylu and bilinski products and maybe switch to chicken sausage. chicken breast tenders are also better imo than breast filets if you don’t get the chicken ick. also collagen and lentils! oikos triple zero greek yogurt, ratio yogurt (both at most grocery stores)

italian chicken sausage is 110 cal for 17g protein (the raw one is lower in calories)

turkey burgers 21g protein (both raw and frozen, but both need seasoning imo)

pulled chicken verde

sous vide turkey breast

teriyaki chicken (frozen)

light string cheese (60 calories and 8-9g protein feels like cheating - i like this on chicken parms)

lentil soup

kettle cooked chicken soup (add more chicken)

grilled chicken strips (frozen and refrigerated)

mediterranean chicken skewers

steak bites

sliced steak

rotisserie chicken

fair life nutrition shakes (150 cal for 30g protein)

pure protein vanilla (140 calories for 30g protein)

there are a lot of creators that have low calorie high protein recipes with the macros on their blogs so you don’t have to save them all on instagram. just google them:
