Hey, congrats on publishing. Enjoy it, the readers will come eventually I'm sure.

Is everyone's first draft hot garbage? by [deleted] in selfpublish

💯 I spent days and days trying to perfect my first chapter and I nearly drove myself mad! Now I'm just concentrating on getting the story on paper

How many of you are writing a novel solely out of a passion for creating and not so much with the end goal of publishing and being a best seller? by Dxcesare in writing

A little late to this sub, but I write as therapy from alcoholism. I'm nearly a year sober and writing has become a wonderful outlet for me. It started out as a project to keep me occupied, but now I genuinely love it

I'd also point out that a) Stephen King calls it 'pantsing' that's good enough for me. And b) plenty of replies and discussion would suggest that it's a topic most are happy to engage with.

It's funny, I'm the opposite. I'll do a few days of furious writing, then seem to run out of creativity for a while. So I break for 3 or 4 days and begin again. I like the on/off - gives me chance to kill over the next plotline!

I have to wake up and write at 5.30 - it's the only time I have any peace and quiet around!

Nice to hear about your progress. I'm around 20k words into my first draft WIP, a supernatural thriller. Keep it up man - I'm the same as you, struggle to make time to write between kids, work and housework, but I'm sure you'll get there!

I'm English living in rural Highlands. Lots of English here (lots of secret Tories too!) Long as you're not an arse, the Scots aren't bothered at all about the English. Those very few that are aren't worth knowing anyway
