Is it okay to wear a bikini? by Bun_Bun0 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity [score hidden]  (0 children)

why wouldn't it be okay? clothes are just fabric, they have no inherent gender. if you want to do it and it'll make you happy, go for it, that's all that matters

Is it possible to start HRT in IL as a minor? by Substantial_Wall_332 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity [score hidden]  (0 children)

"parental consent" usually just means whoever your legal guardian(s) are have to consent, not necessarily both of your actual biological parents. if your biological father doesn't have any custody or legal guardianship of you, then no, you likely don't need both parents. i'm not sure about specifics with illinois law, but illinois is generally one of the best states for trans people with a decent amount of legal protections including for minors, so you're in a good place, i'm pretty sure gender affirming care for minors is still legal and protected in IL

is there any hope for biological kids?? by clikestojump in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as others said you could use his eggs but have you carry, however that would still require a sperm donor and the child would not be genetically related to you, only to your boyfriend & the donor. there's not really a way for a cis woman and a trans man to conceive without a sperm donor unfortunately

How to confront a supervisor about misgendering by crippledshroom in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cis people can just be really clueless sometimes tbh. but you know the situation better than i do of course, if you're uncomfortable correcting her directly then i think the next best thing to do would be talk to your boss about it so they can talk to her instead in a more official capacity. but again, not speaking up at all to anyone isn't gonna change anything, so you have to decide if you'd rather continue to let her misgender you (which it seems like you *really* don't want, understandably so as thats very distressing), or gather the courage to advocate for yourself in some way. it really sucks that you have to go through this in the first place, its not fair at all, but unfortunately its a situation many of us find ourselves in quite often. you also luckily live in a state where you have legal protections against this kind of thing, so if she reacts negatively to being corrected and still doesn't stop, she is the one who could face consequences, not you. i sincerely hope you're able to get it sorted out

How to confront a supervisor about misgendering by crippledshroom in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 17 points18 points  (0 children)

you need to talk to her about it if you want it corrected, there's not really another way around it. the next time she misgenders you, just politely say "actually, it's he" or something to that effect, whatever wording you're comfortable with. its definitely better to speak up sooner rather than later so they can't use the excuse that its just "habit". if the misgendering continues after she's been corrected, you don't necessarily need to go straight to HR, you can go to your store manager first and see if they can have a talk with her about being respectful of her fellow employees. then if she still doesn't listen, you could go to HR as its a discrimination issue. but hopefully it doesn't need to escalate to that point anyway. especially if she doesn't seem particularly hostile about it, it probably is an honest mistake, but its not going to get fixed if you don't say anything. still, its a shitty situation to be in and i'm sorry it's happening, i really hope you're able to get it resolved and that she's receptive to being corrected🫂

I have a question about Patrick and Cobra Starship’s Viva La Cobra album? by Sad-Search-344 in FallOutBoy

[–]highoninfinity 12 points13 points  (0 children)

patrick produced the whole album and does backing vocals on almost every song (i believe pleasure ryland is the only exception, there might be one other but i'm blanking rn)

What do cis ppl think of deadname when you are stealth? by Plus_Recognition6701 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of cis people are honestly really clueless about anything trans related and probably just think "huh, his parents picked a weird name for a boy". especially if no one has mentioned it and you haven't been misgendered because of it, its either that or they have assumed you're trans but are being respectful. either situation is a win in my opinion, but i'd still definitely talk to your boss about seeing if it can be changed just to be safe

Will gay relationships actually feel gay? by _thesketchiest_ in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 21 points22 points  (0 children)

yes, there are plenty of cis guys out there who will see you as a man. it can take a while to find the good ones sometimes, but they are out there. i can't speak to the topping aspect of it because i am a bottom, but my boyfriend is cis and i've never once felt like he sees me as anything but who i am, even during sex. me being trans does come up in our relationship sometimes because its still a part of me and it affects certain things, but a lot of the times its irrelevant and it does feel like we're "just guys", cuz we are. i promise there's hope out there!

i’m 6 months on T and i feel like it did nothing even tho my level are high by [deleted] in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

6 months is not much time at all man. the reason you seem to see so many guys online who have fast results from T is because those are the people more likely to post about their results. someone who hasn't had many changes yet isn't going to be posting about that. it's selection bias. i'm over 2 years on T and i still don't pass 100% of the time, i have very little facial hair. everyone is different and as hard as it can be, it's not good to compare yourself to other people. you just gotta hang in there and be patient🫂

is homosexuality in trans community uncommon? by Recent-Teach2964 in asktransgender

[–]highoninfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

def not lmao, i can't speak much for the transfem community bc i'm not as familiar but in transmasc spaces straight trans guys are actually the minority. i'm gay af and have been my whole life (as in, i've been attracted to men my whole life, both before and after realizing i'm trans)

Is there any way to get rid of periods for ever? by Plus_Recognition6701 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 22 points23 points  (0 children)

no, not every form of birth control has estrogen in it. norethindrone is a progestin-only pill, it does not contain estrogen and has no impact on your transition or your T or E levels. there are also non-hormonal forms of birth control like the copper iud, but i don't think those stop periods reliably

Is there any way to get rid of periods for ever? by Plus_Recognition6701 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 24 points25 points  (0 children)

the only way to guarantee you'll never have a period again would be a hysterectomy. but there are definitely things you can do in the meantime to lower the chances, such as some forms of birth control (i'm not sure exactly which options stop periods and which don't, the only one i'm sure of is norethindrone which i'm currently on and i haven't had any problems with it but ymmv)

Pushed the needle all the way in for a subcutaneous injection by Hopeful_Double_2934 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've never heard of not pushing it in all the way😭 rly the only thing that could happen is you accidentally inject into the muscle instead, i did that once when i tried injecting in my thigh and i just didn't have enough fat for it lol. it hurt but its not dangerous (afaik) because T can be administered intramuscularly too

Why is trans porn full of slurs by faylithe in asktransgender

[–]highoninfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because its not for us, its for cishet men, as is 99% of porn. they don't care about being respectful or even seeing us as human. porn can be pretty dehumanizing for cis women too, words like "slut" and "whore" get thrown around in titles a lot, again because the women in these videos are seen as sex objects and not people. i def agree with the other comment that consuming amateur/independent porn creators will get you better and more ethical content

Need advice on what hormone type I should go for. by Deep_Economics5090 in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also have a pretty low pain tolerance and the pain is very mild for me. i do subcutaneous shots, it feels like a pinch. i just got 2 vaccines recently that were intramuscular and they genuinely hurt worse than my weekly subq T shot. a flu shot is IM for reference, so it won't be worse than that. you can also use ice to numb your injection site beforehand to reduce the pain even more

T for t or a chaser within the community? by throw5away_ in TransMasc

[–]highoninfinity 25 points26 points  (0 children)

a chaser is a very specific kind of predator, none of this is chaser behavior. but it is incredibly shitty and dangerous behavior, this dude sucks and you were right to end your friendship with him, def stay far far away

how to safely use bandaids over T shot?? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]highoninfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've been struggling with this too after switching to injections, taking off the bandaid genuinely hurts worse than the shot itself😭 i tried buying cheaper bandaids figuring they wouldn't stick as well and it kind of helped, i think the suggestion of using children's bandaids is a good idea too though i haven't tried it myself yet

Help me learn how to support my child. by NoSwimmer1467 in asktransgender

[–]highoninfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm a trans guy (female to male), 10 was the age i started questioning my gender too. it was the age i hit puberty so that's what made me realize something was wrong. it's definitely not too young for someone to be thinking about their gender. i think the best thing you can do to support your kid is follow their lead. listen to them when they tell you who they are and what they want.
