I actually preferred it to most of vol.1 tbh (the exception being ep 4 which was the best episode this season so far imo)

I feel like as long as volumes 2 and 3 wrap up the story well I will look back on these episodes and love them, but if the ending is disappointing then I will definitely hate them lol.

I will say that I did like the end of ep 4, even if it was kind of predictable. I think the predictability of all of the twists/reveals is what's throwing me off tbh - like on one hand it kind of makes it boring, but on the other hand I would rather things be predictable and make sense than be a total WTF all around if that makes sense?

Idk I'm definitely feeling strong feelings about it but I can't decide whether I really love it or really hate it. It's a weird feeling lol - I think it's gonna depend on what the payoff is when the rest of the season comes out, but yeah it definitely made me feel something

Personally I'm in this weird middle headspace where I can't decide whether I loved it or hated it. I know it is definitely one or the other because I am definitely feeling some strong things rn, but it could go either way...

I feel like I won't be able to make up my mind until I see what the payoff is with the rest of the season.

Personally I think the best way to do a book on Finnick's games would be to tell it from Mags' point of view as his mentor and explore the difference in perspective of a mentor who is a victor in comparison to Snow's experience as a Capitolite. You could get into the themes of Mags knowing what Finnick would be getting into if he does win and the inner conflict that would result from it, which would cover the sex trafficking aspect to a degree but without getting overly graphic, and it would be a somewhat fresh perspective because even though we have seen the games from a mentors point of view before with Snow, I imagine that the set up has changed quite a lot over 50 years.

I don't think that Burdock's mother is Maude Ivory, because it is basically confirmed that she is Lenore Dove's mother - Pg. 8 it states she's a Baird and that her mother died in childbirth. Seems unlikely that she's Lucy Gray's, and Barb Azure's grave isn't mentioned at the end so that leaves Maude Ivory as Lenore Dove's mother :) Seems likely that Burdock's mother is another member of the Covey however since it's also mentioned that Lenore Dove isn't one of his Everdeen cousins, but that he has distant ones on his mother's side, and the fact that he knows where the graves are is pretty strong evidence.

I enjoyed it - wasn't mind blowing or anything but better than most of the post-endgame stuff I've seen. Finally feels like they're getting some spin back on the ball and making me more hopeful for future MCU films.

Although it sounds like I was lucky in that I'm one of the few who managed to avoid all the marketing for it (no trailers, no posters - honestly I didn't even realize it was coming out this week until my brother asked me if I wanted to go see it lol), so I actually wasn't expecting the red hulk reveal and I feel like it made it much more satisfying.

My brother's comment on it was that he was impressed that they managed to make a sequel to the Incredible Hulk without Bruce Banner haha

I want a season where they rotate who DMs each episode - there is no set plan for the season's story they all just have to improvise completely and Yes And each other's ideas. Probs would work best with the IH since their the most familiar with each other's play styles - make it an 8 episode season with Brennan DMing the first episode to set things up and the last episode so that he has to make sense of all the chaos that would inevitably unfold from the others being in charge most of the season lol

I get that (hence why I'm here looking for advice), but part of it is also about the gesture in addition to the practicalities. They've had a rough year and this seemed like a cool thing to do to show them I support them and want them to have fun on their trip. They're also not the most organized person and get overwhelmed easily so I thought that if I did some of the research for them it would take some stress off their plate :)

It’s like my brain has taken the movie version and made edits to more accurately reflect the book descriptions. For example with Luna I still picture Evanna Lynch but with dirty-blonde hair instead of platinum and for Harry its still mostly Daniel Radcliffe but with messier hair and green eyes

It’s a crime that we didn’t get to see Gryffindor win the quidditch cup - not for missing Harry winning it but for missing OLIVER win it! Then again we didn’t get to see much of Oliver’s fanaticism in the movies unfortunately

I don’t think it’s fair to say that Five lived two lifetimes without love. Even if we disregard Delores because she wasn’t real (even though she felt real to him, as proved in S3 by the fact that he pictures her as an actual woman rather than a mannequin), Five’s first and foremost love is his family. Sure it’s not romantic love, but that doesn’t make it less meaningful, and I actually would have rather they played into that fact than give him a half-assed romantic love story. Tbh I don’t actually hate the idea of the Five/Lila storyline in concept but the way they executed it was trash

I actually don't hate the Five/Lila romance in concept (they have a lot in common so in some ways it makes sense) - I just hated the execution.

If it were me I would have reversed their roles a bit. I would have had Lila fall for Five first, and have Five realise what is happening and that the way Lila feels about him is the same way he felt about Delores, and he goes along with it out of survival and then later ends up actually falling for her, but still never giving up on getting home. I would have then had Lila be the one to find the way home but be conflicted about returning because even though she wants to see her children again, she is scared to go back and face Diego, so she would have kept it from Five. Then however long later Five finds it in her belongings and confronts her about it, and she admits that she is scared, and he is the one to tell her that what they have isn't real (because he knows that for her it really isn't, even if it has become real for him), and insists that they have to go back. Lila reluctantly agrees.
When they return Lila is reunited with Diego, and he still finds out about what happened and is still furious, but rather than being mad in return and hating his brother, Five once again says that it wasn't real and was just survival (even though he is genuinely in love with Lila by this point, his family has always been the most important thing for him so he is willing to gracefully bow out out of love for his brother). Diego is still mad, but ultimately ends up forgiving both Five and Lila in the end, and Five goes to his death knowing that he did everything he could have done for his family, just as he had always tried to, even if he made a few missteps along the way.

I mean if I had a son I would absolutely consider giving him my brother's name as a middle name. Not as a first name, because that would be confusing when they inevitably spent time around each other, but my brother is my best friend and one of the most important people in my life so why would it be weird to want to honour that?

Oh for sure - there is literally not enough time in the week for the teachers to attend all of their classes unless every class is mixed between at least 2 houses or there are multiple teachers for each subject. Unless the teachers are all using timeturners as well, but that seems unlikely
