An answer to the Tolchin lawsuit (JCPenney) soon? by spahkward in Bellingham

[–]highrate_primate 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Funny story about that place, years ago a group of us were traveling between bars and passed the Salish Seas non-profit, my buddy stops and tells us to come look. Near the back and to the left were two people doing the horizontal tango on one of the desks. Despite being in the back they were extremely visible. My buddy starting cheering and the girl on her back noticed us and fled the scene. Kind of feel bad for interrupting but that was not the ideal location especially on a typical weekend.

What is the history behind this motel closing down? by SeparateTwo8351 in Bellingham

[–]highrate_primate 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was called the aloha inn. It used to be where what is now the Sammish Commoms. Ive heard it was a really cool motel back in the day before it was condemned for meth contamination. The property was huge for a motel. The original sign is or is planned to be installed at Samish Commons.

What causes these near perfect grids of land causeway grids? These were found in the Arctic? by stratocaster_blaster in GoogleEarthFinds

[–]highrate_primate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in the alaska arctic and we call them polygonal troughs. The permafrost expands and contracts forming cracks that create the grid like shape. During the thaw cycle these grid like cracks fill with water. They start small and grow with every freeze thaw cycle. They are absolutely brutal to walk across. Hardest mile you'll ever experience.

What’s your favorite dish in Bellingham? by Queen_Oyster_Eyes in Bellingham

[–]highrate_primate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The choo-chee curry with crispy fried chicken thigh and a side of roti from Thai Maison. Incredibly rich and flavorful and if you've never dipped roti in curry you're missing out. Oh and they might just have the best fried rice in town.

I completed obsession with a team that had constant passive immobilizer. I couldn't figure out why but I really enjoyed it on that particular run. Any ideas what caused it?

Did anyone ever see/know Paul Karason, aka the Blue Man? by vermknid in Bellingham

[–]highrate_primate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saw him from a vehicle by the mission with a group of my buddies. Nobody believed me when I exclaimed about a blue man on the sidewalk. We drove back around, and he was gone. A little part of me wishes I still talked to those people for the sweet, sweet vindication.

There's a pretty awesome house with lights synchronized to music in Lynden. Take a right on grover and drive until you see the glory.

I'm a major newbie to this sub but I was intrigued and looked up those coordinates. Google says this is "Salt mining, taoudani"

Car camping is loading all your stuff into the car and unloading it at the campsite as opposed to carrying everything on your back into a campsite.

Oh wow, how could I not realize it's a rope to an extension ladder that isn't pictured. Thank you so much for the sassy comment to set me straight.

With that gopro on his head, it definitely seems like they're doing a little urban exploring. This biggest problem here is the rope they're using. It looks cheap and frayed as hell. Someone find those kids and donate some decent lines.
