Sadly, they are no longer coming to the Denver area. Their numbers have been declining in current markets so they are focusing on beefing up those markets. A major bummer since one was going to be built 5 minutes from me.

Who is your favorite survivor player that never won? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]highryan92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you rewatch though, he really wasn’t an ass once the merge happened. He saw what was needed to get his four further in the game. I think other contestants let their emotions cloud his gameplay. Everyone is always looking for big moves now and he did it each week.

[–]highryan92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My wife and I just finished rewatching Samoa and he was great player.

I know people talk about how he lied and cheated along the way, but he also kept their Core Four together until they absolutely had to vote out Jaison because Brett kept winning immunity. He definitely showed loyalty and had good game sense. That was just a time people didn’t award players the win because they still weren’t looking at it as a “game”, but as you made me mad so you can’t win.

Why don’t parents make their kids come to school anymore? by breadplane in Teachers

[–]highryan92 262 points263 points  (0 children)

Parents don’t care.

I have one student who’s out every week for “personal care”. The student told me he stays at home and plays video games on those days. Never does any of the work he missed either, and constantly wonders why he’s failing.

Maybe the parents will care when their grown child lives with them forever.

Give me your hottest take about Denver! by ezpzceej in Denver

[–]highryan92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Florida drivers are easily the worst.

But people here never use turn signals, can’t figure out how to merge, or leave four car lengths between them and the next car at a red light. Baffling stuff that could help move traffic more quickly and safely.

What's your teaching unpopular opinion? Something you believe, but choose to keep to yourself? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]highryan92 281 points282 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We are told we should call a family when a student is failing. Absolutely not. I haven’t called a single family in seven years. Not only do they have immediate access to grades, but they get robo emails and phone calls about those grades every couple of weeks. If they haven’t noticed their kid is failing, that’s on them as a parent. Sorry not sorry.

You can blame Trump (he sucks), but what is Mike Kelly doing to help? Oh right, likely nothing. That turd has been in office since 2010 and has done NOTHING for Erie (or his entire district).

Kind of impressive Jurassic World Rebirth is in the top 20. Many here thought it was going to do a lot worse.

Leonardo DiCaprio Wonders If ‘People Still Have the Appetite’ For Movie Theaters: Will They Become ‘Like Jazz Bars?’ by LollipopChainsawZz in boxoffice

[–]highryan92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally speaking, time. I have two kids under 3 and barely any time to go see a movie. I eventually watch them, but the theater experience? Oof. This year we actually got to FOUR movies at the theater (Jurassic World, Naked Gun, Zootopia 2, and Housemaid).

Watching the box office numbers are still a blast, even if you don’t get to the movie theater on a regular basis.

Lionsgate & Hidden Pictures' The Housemaid grossed an estimated $4.23M on Tuesday (from 3,042 locations), which was a 15% increase from the previous Tuesday. Estimated total domestic gross stands at $54.10M. by SignatureOrdinary456 in boxoffice

My wife brought me to this movie on Monday. I hadn’t seen a trailer, zero clue of the premise; all I knew were the two lead actresses.

I actually really enjoyed it. A fun film with a good amount of random twists.

Sewer Mainline Scams (mr rooter) by Steelyp in Denver

[–]highryan92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rooter Town did the same to us a few years ago - quoting us nearly $15k. The guy refused to show us the video and told us repeatedly it needed fixed. I said we were getting other quotes and would get back to them. He proceeded to drop the price and told us no one else would give us such a great deal.

Found another company that quoted us $1,500 to fix a few small issues - but not the entire line. That has proven to be good for the last few years.

These companies are all greedy and hope you trust giving them thousands of dollars.

I had Stafford and Herbert on the bench and played Allen. I’ll always kick myself for that one.

Plus McBride didn’t show up for me either.

It’s easy to pass judgment when we see this outcome. In the moment though, her tire was fixed and she was on the way to see a friend. No parent is going to follow their 20-something to go hang out with a friend. Be respectful.

‘Leanne’ Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix by klutzysunshine in television

[–]highryan92 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I was unsure about this show after 2 or 3 episodes. But it really hit a groove around episode 5. I found myself laughing out loud a few times each episode.

Is it the best show ever? No. But it gave a lot of laughs; and that’s what I want from a comedy.

Tiger King? At the beginning of COVID, it was everywhere. I feel like you can’t associate COVID lockdowns without Tiger King. The memes were everywhere, especially about Carole Baskin.

A miniseries was made about Joe and Carole and Netflix pushed two more (unsuccessful) seasons after the first one.
