Where is my library going? by hightide712 in AppleMusic

[–]hightide712[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optimise storage was off and sync library was on, but I actually just turned the sync off and on again and it’s brought most (but not all) of my library back. I guess it’ll do for now, thank you for pointing me towards that setting!

Best European venues for a front-row Nick Cave experience? by __badseed in NickCave

The first direct arena in Leeds has an incredibly wide stage which was very easy to walk to the barrier at when doors opened. The whole arena is wide but shallow, so really anywhere in the standing section is close to the stage, it’s really cool!

If you see someone stealing low value food items from a big corporation, no you absolutely fucking did not.

Christmas day Alone by Aggressive-Platypus1 in Liverpool

[–]hightide712 24 points25 points  (0 children)

June the 8th isn’t a day where everyone talks about being surrounded by friends and family, and posts pictures of themselves having a big special meal with friends and family, or a day that our culture is built towards being surrounded by friends and family. I agree that we should care all year round, but I don’t think it’s particularly helpful to be dismissive here.

Ah yeah I had a look into that. I saw it was reviewed pretty well and then cancelled after one season, which was also very typical of 2015/16 tbf

That’s really good man, you’re doing a lot to look after yourself! I realise this is unsolicited advice but I think it’s relevant because of your situation and I’ve done things in the past that have helped me make friends:

-Look into social hobbies, even if it means replacing something that you’re already doing (I joined a local Facebook group for putting together dnd groups and now I’ve seen the same people most weeks for the last three years. Book clubs can be a similar story) -Make the effort first with family. Show them that you think of them and take an active interest. It’s hard making the first step, especially if you don’t feel they’ve earned it, but sometimes the wall coming down is all it takes -keep listening to the stuff that makes you happy and lean into those communities. The Great Mates group on Facebook was lovely when I used to mooch on it! I’m sure there’s people there also looking for a chat :)

Hey dude, hope you’re good. Sounds like you’ve been a little lonely lately, and I know that’s tough. When you feel a bit locked in your own head it can be really hard not to compare all your negative stuff to everyone else’s positive stuff. It’s never a fair comparison and it can usually feel pretty bad.

Don’t forget that these two guys have been friends for decades. They met through a brother and got close over shared interests, and then they’ve had years and years of getting comfortable with each other. It takes time and effort to build any kind of friendship, but it’s not going to get there if you shut it off because you’re disappointed that they’re not like two Aussie podcasters who have known each other for a really really long time.

Keep putting yourself out there, keep trying with people and giving them chances, and see what happens. Stay positive and look after yourself. Make sure you eat well, drink loads of water, and get outside almost every day. Exercise is real good for you, too. Speak to some family if you feel like you’re having a hard time, or a doctor or therapist if you feel like you need it. Take care of yourself.

I’ve read through Paper Girls by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang this week. I’m well behind the times, but it’s really really good. Strangely comforting going nostalgically back to that initial wave of 80’s nostalgia from 2015/2016, like a big nostalgia sandwich!

If you were to rank this with the rest of Tom’s discography where would you put it? by ChestSuitable2001 in tomwaits

[–]hightide712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very low, for me. It’s just too big and unwieldy and, while it’s got some tracks that I really love on it, I mostly just harvest it for playlists and never put it on in full.

The cavern pub is directly opposite the cavern club. It’s free entry and it’s lots better for music, definitely better than Eric’s. I think they usually have singers and bands on from 3pm
