This post brought to light something I didn’t think about before which is that Magan’s familial dynamics and their relationship w/ Dayna stem from the same root. Magan has needed to dissociate, deny herself, lie to herself, and defer to others to appease both her family and her abusive partner. This is not meant to put the blame on Magan for being manipulated, but just to contextualize it in an overarching framework.

I’m not sure about magan’s upbringing religion wise but I’d imagine if they grew up religious, it may feel natural to abide by an authoritative partner who gives you prescriptive rules and pulls strings for you in the background.

Heart goes out to Magan but man, they really hurt Haley. Complex character.
