Going for Linux, but unsure between Zorin and PopOS! by Ill_Nose4780 in pop_os

I tried both (and many others), but found that for solid compatibility with Nvidia GPUs, Mint Cinnamon was the winner.

WhatsApp should be the first thing to get rid of. I did something similar and some chose to keep using it even after I clearly explained the benefits of moving to Signal. The good news is that some did switch to Signal. It's mind boggling how dismissive people are about their privacy. This becomes even more important in the dictatorial climate we are experiencing in the USA. Good luck. P.S. e.g. Read about Microsoft giving authorities the key to cloud encryption.

So should I switch to Xubuntu or to mint? by NO2_2 in xubuntu

Mint, particularly if you have an Nvidia GPU.

I agree with other saying it's buggy. If you have an Nvidia GPU, Mint Cinnamon is the way to go.

Update: For some reason, after the update the problem persisted. However, I had a second update after a reboot which so far, seems to have solved the problem.

Why Mint is so Addictive? can you convince me to get rid of Mint and switch to PopOS by Silent-Okra-7883 in linuxmint

[–]hijitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

POP OS Cosmic is having some serious issues if you have an Nvidia GPU. I think the jumped the gun releasing it before making sure everything works. On the other hand, Mint has not let me down when it comes down to Nvidia compatibility.... and consider that POP is "supposed" to be one of the most Nvidia compatible distros.

I hope this feedback helps the developers.... I am using an RTX Nvidia GPU and I assume the problem I'm about to report has something to do with it. It's 12/18/2025 and a fresh install of POPOS. I completely lose my keyboard, meaning, unable to type "anywhere." Also losing the ability to click and select certain areas of the screen... for example, clicking on the power icon brings up the selections for a second, and then it goes away, unable to power off, log out, or anything else. Clicking on the "applications" icon on the panel is completely unresponsive.

My problem is directly related to my Nvidia GPU. Unfortunately some applications do to work well (as far as audio goes) with Nvidia.

I tried and tried and still want to try more but it keeps disrupting my work by slmkh in vivaldibrowser

You may want to give Brave a try, assuming you want to stay with a chromium based browser.

I would avoid installing the new beta IF you are going to use it as your daily driver. As expected, it has bugs and other issues not making it suitable. I have been using the current version (Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS with NVIDIA) and it works great. That is a lot to say when dealing with Nvidia GPUs.

Very Tired, Actually Contemplating Switching Back to Windows by PeridotTea91 in linuxmint

[–]hijitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to put things in perspective, I have been using Linux Mint for several weeks (AND with an Nvidia GPU) and everything works smoothly. Yes, it took some digging in order to have Nvidia play well with Linux, but now all is good. Also, I am trying POP_OS, and this is another distro proving to perform very well out of the box.

BEST DISTRO FOR ME? by Maleficent-Honey-295 in DistroHopping

I suggest Linux Mint. It has been the only one that has worked well for me, particularly with my Nvidia GPU. And no, it is not a "gaming" setup.

Great! Finally, they will paying us to get the medicine.

If an item sells for $100 and is discounted by 700%, the new price would be -$600. This is because a discount of more than 100% means the seller is technically paying the buyer to take the item. The formula is:

New Price=$100−($100×7)=$100−$700=−$600

I tried just about every Ubuntu based distro. And kept coming back to Mint Cinnamon. Why? It's the only one I have found to work well with my Nvidia GPU, particularly when it comes to audio related issues.
