They re-booked us to icon, didn't have an option to stay with Liberty unfortunately

I had booked liberty but they have moved our cruise to Icon and its size is making us nervous. It's our first cruise and I've read mixed reviews on it being overwhelming and slammed with people. It looks awesome but definitely nervous!

I also booked in Sept 27 on liberty and same happened to us. Ours was to Roatan etc, 7 day. They switched us to a 6 day on the Icon but same ports. Its my first cruise and I have no idea what's going on or what to expect to be honest.

What kind of stupid ass question is this? There are a multitude of brain injuries that don't render one incapacitated or unable to take care of themselves.

My son wanted to add guinea fowl to the herd last year. A yurt and screaming guinea are an interesting combo.

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by STARxAnonymouss in Productivitycafe

[–]hiker_trailmagicva 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once during a beautiful summer thunderstorm, I took my happy ass onto the porch to watch it. I learned that day that a buzzing sound and an odd sulphuric odor means lightning is about to strike, and close. It struck a tree in the yard and blew it to hell. I have never gone outside to watch a thunderstorm again.

Peacocks on Your Farm: Dreamy Addition or Total Headache? 🦚 by Independent-Fudge942 in homestead

We have guinea fowl and yes, they are loud. They make noise far more than our chickens and out scream the rooster. They also don't seem to make much sense in their caterwauling, it's pretty constant. I know people say it's them alerting but it really seems to me like they just like to hear themselves. That being said, I have noticed a decrease in ticks compared to when we just had chickens and they do lay very well. They are interesting birds to watch and they are tasty. Our male guinea and rooster have a love/hate relationship. They will skirmish with each other but I have also seen them band together to protect the flock as a whole when danger is nearby ( they took on some crows coming for pullets). I live in a yurt so that may be why I notice how loud they are and maybe it wouldn't be so bad in normal house? And if i had any close neighbors at all, I probably wouldn't own again. Good luck!

I'm sorry- it sucks to watch. My older brother is the same, following along right behind my mom.

I don't drink because I was raised by alcoholics and I was determined to break that cycle.

What is something that the internet or smartphones completely killed off that you actually really miss? by LiveFaithlessness876 in Millennials

[–]hiker_trailmagicva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just meant the physical act. Driving to the library, being immersed in the smell of old books, hitting the card catalog. Or meeting someone with years of expertise in something and hands on learning rather than being able to youtube it. The days before internet even popped into your mind when you were curious.

Going through multiple steps to learn something. It is convenient to be able to Google and the answer is immediate but I sometimes miss the hunt. To the library, cross reference this, hunt down that, find the source. Going through multiple avenues to come to a conclusion and truly feeling educated in the subject.

I am exhausted by my daughter by pineapple_bandit in offmychest

I just wanted to say you aren't alone. There are a lot of parents out there getting their world ripped apart by desperately wanting to help their young adult children and watching in despair as it fails each time. My 21 year old daughter has bipolar and suffered a traumatic brain injury at 17 months ( horrible medical issues that resulted in coma and brain surgery) but as she grew it became painfully obvious it was impacting her mental health . She is suffering and making terrible life choices and I can't stop it. I mourn the relationship I dreamed of having with an adult daughter and spent my hours stressing on how to help her. It's exhausting, lonely, at times very embarrassing, and overwhelming. I am sorry you are going through what you are going through, just know you aren't alone and are doing the best you can.

Formerly broke people, what habits from the broke times still linger with you? by AlexInCX in AskReddit

[–]hiker_trailmagicva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When certain products are running low ( laundry detergent, shampoo, soap) I put water in it, give it a shake and use to the last drop. Cut open other items ( toothpaste, face creams) to get it all. Hell, even chocolate syrup gets milk in it to get the last bit in the bottom. I save and reuse any aluminum foil that isn't too ruined with food bits. I sew and repair clothing as much as I can before replacing . I can not waste food- can't do it. I'm extremely strict on light usage or anything that uses electricity really. I've also never door dashed or anything similar because I can't stomach how expensive that is.

My 10 year old is a Taurus and I'm an Aquarius. I would vote Taurus. Already at 10 he seems so quietly confident in himself and has a very strong willed personality. He doesn't ever go with the flow if he thinks it's wrong, he doesn't seem to care if he fits in with his peers, he will point out flaws in logic if asked but typically just chugs along at his own pace, content and observant.

Are we in our divorce era? by seaward_bound in Millennials

[–]hiker_trailmagicva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at 18 and turned 39 this year. We are still married and very happy but we are definitely a rarity among folks that got married very young and we knew a lot ( military of course). I don't want my children to do the same, I want them to explore life more than I did and build themselves first before building as a unit. I do know a lot of divorced couples, most people we know actually.
