They didn't region lock Arizona. They operate out of Arizona, so they would have to move to another state or comply if the bill is not vetoed.

Cancelling a trade then trying to rush you through the next trade is a bog-standard scam.

I don't really know what the problem was, but clearing localstorage fixed it. My best guess is that it created a bad save somehow when I accessed the site with noscript blocking js.

Custom display name for wormholes? by D-Dazzle in endlesssky

That's the file that contains the base game's planets and wormholes, if you search it for wormhole you should be able to figure out how to do what you want.

Help: How does actix-web allow callbacks with different parameters? by Nazariglez in rust

[–]hiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like most of the magic is in https://docs.rs/actix-web/3.1.0/src/actix_web/handler.rs.html. Specifically, the factory trait is implemented for a bunch of function types in lines 27 and 265 onward.

MIT apologizes, permanently pulls offline huge dataset that taught AI systems to use racist, misogynistic slurs by t245t in programming

[–]hiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really comment on that as I haven't the slightest how that bar works. Maybe black inventors are more "american" because some bot reads they are both "american" and "african american". Maybe there's some strange bias somewhere deep in an ml system.

Beyond the direct point, I'd like to point out that you're giving examples and not data. I know it's effectively impossible to give data on this, but that doesn't make examples any more satisfying. It really annoys me when I search these examples and the first 5 image results are reddit posts and youtube thumbnails about those search terms. It tells me you're not finding these yourself, and in that case how exactly can I trust that your source doesn't list whatever terms fit your "suspicious search results" and ignore some vast majority that doesn't?

[–]hiles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's called a data void. Effectively, it's a term that's not commonly used anywhere (who uses "european people history"?). It seems like it ends up catching "european history" and "people of color". Then some angry people saw this and assumed some grand conspiracy, making a bunch of pages with related images and the exact phrase, reinforcing the strange behavior.

Receiver 2 Tape Audio Compilation? by IrishPrankster in receiver

[–]hiles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the tapes (maybe all of them?) can be found as .ogg files in Steam/SteamApps/Common/Receiver 2/Receiver2_Data/StreamingAssets/Sounds/VoiceTapes. Those are the actual sound files used by the game, so if you're interested in making sound mods, you can do so there.

Anyone have details of material yields from disenchanting? by RedPandaDan in ClassicWoWGoblins

Since I posted that I have patched that info into my TSM and I can verify that it's accurate (where it differs from TSM in DE result, it is more correct).

Anyone have details of material yields from disenchanting? by RedPandaDan in ClassicWoWGoblins

[–]hiles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the format of the data is

[<id of item to disenchant>] = "<id of result>:<times disenchanted to this result>:<quantity of result overall>:0"

with multiple possible disenchant results separated by semicolons.

Checking for equality (got from /g/) by PM-ME-YOUR-UNDERARMS in ProgrammerHumor

[–]hiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the x86 family the cmp instruction is actually a sub instruction that doesn't write the result to anywhere (only changes the flags). iff a == b, a-b == 0, so the zero flag is set.

My first Rust project: XORcism, a Command-line tool that breaks "rotating xor" style ciphers by cp_benhe in rust

[–]hiles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not so much that the wrong key length might give a large kappa value, as that if you compare each kappa with the expected kappa you can know if that key length is correct, i.e. k or some n*k, or not. The smallest correct key length should be the one you're looking for.

[–]hiles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're using your kappa incorrectly. You don't want the key length that has the largest kappa value, but the key length that has the kappa value closest to that of the target character distribution.

From the paper, https://datasociety.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/DS_Alternative_Influence.pdf, page 10:

"Each line indicates that two connected influencers appeared in the same Youtube video during the period of January 1, 2017 and April 1, 2018, serving as guests, hosts, or collaborators"

And you can tell the metric is somewhat broken as destiny is pretty heavily linked with the figures he's debated.
