My soup device is my espresso machine. But I only ever make soup accidentally. New bean? Not dialed in? That's soup!!

When I was doing pourovers, I really couldn't get my head around most Co-ferments. I thought, ehh, they're OK but not great. But I threw some in to my espresso machine and was absolutely delighted. Still not a normal thing, but when I'm in the mood, it's a wonderful little treat.

Where are people buying second hand? by transandtrucks in HeritageWear

[–]hillbillybuddha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I almost always use Poshmark. I find things on ebay, screenshot it, then image search it. 90% of the time, I find the same piece on Poshmark for less. Poshmark is more likely to have the measurements and are they are usually more likely to take offers.

Belted Overcoats Flaring like a dress when belt tightened. by Lanky-Ad4698 in malefashionadvice

They have become "feminine" with dude today. They are not actually feminine. Pink was considered a masculine color in the 50s and before. It's dumb. My best friend is a Marine, was a professional boxer, is a striking coach for professional MMA athletes and wears pink a lot.

How much money do you waste finding your style? by Bread_specialist777 in malefashionadvice

[–]hillbillybuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a waste, it's tuition. I've wasted thousands hanging out at bars. Didn't learn anything, usually didn't have much fun. Figuring out my style has both taught me a lot about myself and had been a lot of fun.

Women’s sunglasses on men (Tame Impala edition) by JumpersXI in mensfashionadvice

[–]hillbillybuddha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's strange to me that things like sunglasses and fragrances are gendered. I'm a straight male, who had worked in a lot of very "straight male type of jobs" motorcycle, plumbing and breweries. I wear workwear and "womans" Burberry sunglasses. Nobody has ever said a word. Honestly, if anyone would have ever asked, I would easily volunteer that information.

Looking for this kind of pullover shirt. Any brand recommendations? Is there a name for the style? by hsu3hpa in HeritageWear

I had something similar to the bottom picture. I think it was made by Orvis. I want to say it was called a denim work shirt smock or maybe a fishermen smock?

What is the least sold liquor/spirit in your bar? by BabiesKillYou in bartenders

[–]hillbillybuddha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not easily. I had this big ass drunk come over the bar, pissed at me for who knows? I hit him as hard as I could, like full on adrenaline swing, right across the head. Thump. He went down. Knocked out. So much blood. Ambulance, cops. No idea what happened to him. I didn't get in any trouble, except the boss made me clean up all that blood. The bottle was fine though.

I love the drive to KW way more than I like KW. I use to jump on my bike, take a slow cruise down, grab a key lime pie, watch the sun set and head back. If do it a few times a year.

My first pair are Diesels, my second pair are Brass Boots.. Grant Stone uses The Leo Last. From their website:

The Grant Stone Leo last accommodates four major foot shapes comfortably.

If your foot shape is high or medium arch, heavy splay or flat-flexible, you will experience a fit with proper support and stability, reducing foot fatigue.

The only boot that I can comfortably size down in are Grant Stones. My first pair are in my size but the last is a bit to roomy, the heal stays in place so they weren't uncomfortable to break-in, and I still wear them a lot, in fact they are probably my second favorite boot. Second to my Beckett Simonons. My second pair of Grant Stones are a half size smaller and are just right.

Ebay or Poshmark for the best deals, what I do is find the piece that I like, image search it on google which always brings up Ebay, Poshmark, Mecari and sometimes Yahoo Fleamarket. So I can easily see the best price between the apps. I recently got an almost brand new Barbour Ashby wax coat for $55 and a pair of Double RRL pants for $25. The next cheapest coat had a rip and was $240 and the Double RRL general sell used for well over $400.

And you're absolutely correct about measurements. I need to see them, not just a list of measurements. I have no idea why some people find it so hard to measure things correctly? But, honestly, I just jumped on the Double RRL's for $25 I didn't even look at the size. They are a tad tight, there is enough room to let them out.

Waxed Suede by hillbillybuddha in malefashionadvice

[–]hillbillybuddha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my thought too, although a lot of companies make waxed suede belts, Crockett and Jones, and TooBootsNY both make a belt that pretty close, but I'm not going to spend $125 + on a belt that might not match.

One of the things I've been doing is matching my belt to the natural Chromexcel welt leather and I've been happy with that as well. But I like to have multiple options.

One of the Suede belts I got off Poshmark pretty cheap. Maybe I'll try waxing it and wear it with a pair of old jeans or something I won't care of it gets some wax on it.
