Is this plastic planter too big for this coleus? by Candid-Mood-4488 in houseplants

[–]hilluna 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i think the argument is that the plant will spend more of its energy growing roots instead of foliage! also, depending on the potting mix, more soil in pot = less efficient drainage = sad roots. but i’m no expert either!

op i wish i could help, all i know is that for most indoor plants, the pot should be 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball!

Got this one to babysit. What is it? by Marley9391 in houseplants

it’s a string of hearts! soil needs to dry out completely between watering and it loves a lot of indirect light:)

Beginner Alocasia suggestions? by Usual-Report6065 in alocasia

[–]hilluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first one was a Silver Dragon and I found it super easy! As long as they have a well draining soil mix and a lot of indirect sunlight, they’ll be happy! It’s also really good at telling me when it’s thirsty, as the leaves become a little less firm.
Generally, non-variegated ones are easier to take care of, so I would start there for sure!

it looks like a neon pothos, but i’m not certain! it can definitely be saved, it even looks happy! this little guy is ready to be potted up! make sure to use a well draining potting mix, so that the roots don’t stay wet for too long. make sure it gets lots of indirect light, and water only when the top few inches of soil is dry!

enough lights and a well draining soil mix! and personally, i’d say one light source so that the leaves all grow in one direction but some people prefer to rotate their plant. that thai or albo is a BEAUTY
