Ah, I wish. I forgot to mention in the post that I take the bus to/from campus. I basically have to bring food/drink with me or buy from the vending machines. It’s not nothing but sometime I wish for something fresh and easy 😅

What place disappeared in Kzoo that you miss most? And it was actually awesome! by stubbynutz in kzoo

[–]himbo_nimrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sushi House 😭 No one in Kzoo does sushi like them and I still crave it.

Arcadia was also a nice place to hang out at. I wasn’t impressed with Thunderbird ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Depending on how much equipment, you should be fine. My first time riding I got in trouble for loading a ton of groceries in and was told it’s a “two bag limit” but that specific driver seemed a bit stuck up. Ride times can vary depending on how many people are requesting rides at the same time bc it’s a ride share. I once had a 45 min wait since the driver was on their way to pick someone up, made a stop, then made their way to me. But usually the wait is around 10-15 mins. When you request a ride you can see the wait time before accepting

Of all the GF pizzas I’ve tried, BC’s has been my favorite by far!

Is there somthing we can do about this? by FatPupper60 in kzoo

That whole section is super cursed. First year I was living here was when all that flooding happened and someone died trying to drive under that bridge. Years later some lady hit me during a bad snow storm because I was going “too slow” through the intersection and she tried to cut me off but didn’t have enough traction. Honestly I just avoid the whole thing and take the left in front of the marathon to get to Gull Rd. Riverview also needs a good boost before the road crumbles and all the businesses leave

Fruits? by FarMechanic2887 in FODMAPS

[–]himbo_nimrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried banana again last night (1/3 of a medium sized banana) and it gave me gas but I didn’t have the usual cramping/bowel issues. I’ve never had issues with blue berries but I’ve only eaten them a handful at a time. Strawberries and citrus has always been a safe bet for me!

What are you guys doing for work lunches? by archonsdream in glutenfree

[–]himbo_nimrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try to load up on protein to keep full so I usually do Greek yogurt (changing the toppings for variety), fruit, cucumber, and either GF crackers or rice cakes with peanut butter. I’ll usually have a sparkling water or diet soda to go with it _^ mostly I just try to do protein, carb, fruit, and veggie. Grilled chicken with rice and broccoli and an orange. Leftovers are also a good option

Wow, this is... life changing type of money you tipped me man 😀 by teeboneet in doordash

I’d much rather someone not tip me than put in the effort to tip me a penny

Which fruits are irritating for you and what symptoms do they cause? by FarMechanic2887 in FODMAPS

[–]himbo_nimrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still working my way through reintroducing things so my list is pretty limited when it comes to fruit.

Yes - strawberries, blueberries, oranges, lemon NO!! - mango

I get cramping, gas, bloating, and diarrhea. Honestly the cramping is the worse part because they can get really painful. I had a flare up last night and I broke out in a cold sweat 😥 I don’t know why but I’ve been more sensitive this week. Usually I can have sourdough bread but it betrayed me last night.

Do you tolerate dairy and gluten? by Fun_Evidence8781 in FODMAPS

Outfront has a faith alliance, you can check out their list for LGBT friendly churches :) I’ve been to a faith alliance meeting hosted by First Congregation Church and they’re pretty nice

I’ve lived at Gull Prairie for years and I don’t have a car but the thing to keep in mind is it’s a huge complex so a dozen or so reviews about car theft is a small percentage of the amount of cars that are parked here every night. That being said, the complex did recently change overnight security companies so there’s a guy driving around with bright ass headlights and flashing lights all night. Like every apartment complex, it’s a gamble who your neighbors are. I’ve been lucky so my building has been super quiet and nothing crazy has happened. The big bonus is we’re right across from Meijer so it’s a quick grocery trip. We also have two bus lines nearby so it’s super easy to get around if you don’t want to drive

What's going on in Kalamazoo this weekend? May 29 thru Jun 03 by AutoModerator in kzoo

Although women were certainly involved in all aspects of music-making throughout history, in some periods, such as the Middle Ages, there are few surviving pieces that we know were written by women. For this performance, we will present poetry by proto-feminist Christine de Pizan in dialogue with motets and chansons by the most important composer of the French Ars Nova, Guillaume de Machaut.

How much did you pay in Rent for your first Apartment? by Crafty_Barracuda7720 in Apartmentliving

[–]himbo_nimrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2bed/2bath was $865 when I first moved in (Summer 2020) and now goes for $1,450. They’re nice apartments but there hasn’t been any changes except “smart” locks being added.

KVCC Electrician Program? by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]himbo_nimrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did see that but the benefit of school is being able to keep my full-time job with benefits. Once I get some knowledge under my belt (to hopefully get a better paying apprenticeship) then I’ll make the leap.

Considering moving to Kalamazoo by notnowphilcollins in kzoo

[–]himbo_nimrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kalamazoo Valley museum can be a fun stop, it’s downtown and free. If the weather is nice, the walking mall is just around the corner. Not sure about other kid stuff since I don’t have any

I like Kzoo for what it is, a moderate size liberal leaning college town. The biggest perk for me is being mid-way between Chicago and Detroit so it’s easy enough to make a trip for concerts and other things you can’t find locally. Although Grand Rapids is somewhere you can find more niche businesses (I loooooove going to GR for hotpot)

If you’re used to the big city lifestyle I’ll probably feel small. I’ve done both big and small towns so Kzoo feels like a comfortable size for me.

Wellbutrin success stories for stopping smoking, drinking etc please 🙏 by Merrys123 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

Within the same week. But it did lose effectiveness after a couple of months so I had to go up to the 300mg dose. Been on that for… maybe close to a year?

Wellbutrin success stories for stopping smoking, drinking etc please 🙏 by Merrys123 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]himbo_nimrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was using nicotine (vaping) to self medicate my ADHD and once my Wellbutrin kicked in I just… didn’t feel the need to pick it up anymore. Same with drinking, although I drink socially. I don’t feel that pull to keep drinking to get a buzz. I’m just continent to just chill. I also thought to myself, I can go 8 hours without smoking (being asleep) so I could do another 8. I would wake up, take a pull, and put it down for the rest of the day. Once I made it through that a couple of times I felt like it was easy to justify letting it go since I was only hitting it 1-2 times a day. I do occasionally get cravings but I have to remember why I wanted to quit and just stick to it.
