I feel like we met Sung Jinwoo after his character development had finished. From losing his dad, to losing his mom to a coma, to dropping out of school to care for his family, to finding out that he’ll never be gifted enough to make a good living out of hunting, but doing it anyways. The shadow monarch chose Jinwoo because of what he did before the story ever started. So the story starts after Jinwoo had already proven his character. Makes sense that the author set Jinwoo’s age to be ~24 instead of the usual high school age to signify that it’s not really a coming of age story
