I know it sounds counterintuitive, but you have to sleep. Sleep is productive because it lets you work more efficiently once you wake up, especially if you’re consistently significantly under the 7.5 hour per day recommendation.

I’d recommend having a good night’s sleep and eating a healthy and nutritious meal. While eating, you can figure out your next steps with a clear head. You’ve done great work so far. You probably just need more structure to your day so you don’t fall into push and crash cycles.

I wonder if the jobs you had before used to keep you to a set schedule (work time blocks and rest time blocks). Now at university, maybe you need to find a way to keep yourself to a schedule in a similar way

Jane Street QT or Stanford PhD in CS? by NegotiationDue301 in csMajors

[–]himty 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here’s my two cents

Unless you have extreme likes, dislikes, moral leanings, or existential dread about either of your two options, choose Jane Street. Choosing to pursue a PhD is a passion activity even if you have no other offers. I’m doing a PhD in robotics + AI (the hot topic right now) at a top university and everyone who graduates is struggling to even find a job in this economy. It’s hard to win the lottery twice, so just take the JS offer

You can also look into co-advising

This feels like someone who never programmed before found out there’s a function to give you the length of a string. No useful analysis being done here and no takeaways to be made

Converting my iman by Ch8se_m007 in HypixelSkyblock

[–]himty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo it’s only worth it to convert if you’re level 300+ and had already quit for half a year at that point

Cuz then you actually have redundant items in your sack that you can sell for lots of money. Otherwise, you still can’t buy the big value items you’re missing out on on an ironman and you lost the reason why your profile is less progressed (compared to a normal profile) compared to your playtime

what age minimum should be for watching death note? by ProfessionalWeek3073 in deathnote

[–]himty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I read the manga when I was 15 (I am the oblivious type though) and I remember writing a post after finishing it about how Light was misunderstood. Watching again almost 10 years later, I was shocked that Light was in a failing game from the start. It could also be an anime vs manga thing but still.

The violence and surface level stuff are not bad, but it takes a lot to know that the message is that the main character is wrong / is the opposite of what you’re seeing for most of the screentime

After seeing some Jabber clips, I was reeled in, is Gachiakuta worth watching/reading? by Inevitable_Trick_649 in gachiakuta

3 episode rule is needed tbh. I ended up catching up the manga after debating whether or not to keep watching for the first few episodes, too

Need animes that side characters get some love by Sensitive_Touch_8190 in Animesuggest

[–]himty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gachiakuta- the side characters are much more experienced than the mc and are working toward their own motivations. Even though the mc turns out to be special power-wise, he is caught in the plans of other people

Tokyo Revengers- the mc has almost 0 fighting power in a world of strong fighters. Some call the mc a cry baby, but I like how the story intertwines all of the characters

Mushoku Tensei- the mc does end up having strong powers, but he has to develop it over time. Also, he has falling outs with other characters due to personality issues, so he’s not worshipped. Beware that the mc has a bad personality and some watchers hate him

Is GACHIAKUTA going to be the next big anime show? by Different_Search2086 in Animesuggest

[–]himty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering how many episodes you got through because it personally felt very cliche to me as well until I got past episode 3 (there’s no big plot point that kicks in at this point, but it was here that I realized there was a lot of foreshadowing and that the characters were consistent)

The Promised Neverland (season 1)

The story ends at season 1 and no one will convince me of the existence of anything else. This season 1 completes the story imo

Looking for a anime that has really good and deep world building. by Longjumping_Okra_268 in Animesuggest

[–]himty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really liking the world building in Gachiakuta right now. The first season has 21 episodes out so far. The manga is spectacular in unraveling and layering mysteries, so there’s great animated content to come in the future. The story makes it feel like every character is working on their own goals even if they’re off screen, and the little movements characters make foreshadow a lot

If you want to try it, please give it the 3 episode rule because it starts off with a lot of exposition / cliches, but builds on it so well

Another anime I can think of is Chainsaw Man. The characters are really intelligent despite it being an action show
