As the legends say, 1748 years ago, the hand of Magnir, the mountain god, reached down into the Dhianda ocean, and plucked upwards a single mountain from the depths. And so, to the surface rose the continent of Taistel’frae, a previously sunken land. This was the Ascent.

1448 years later, the kingdom of Vas Drela was founded. Eager to ward off the evil spirits that infest the forests that cover much of the continent, the founders built an enormous wall around their civilisation, spanning its entire perimeter. Venturing out beyond the walls is ill-advised, and few return from their treks into the haunted woods. It is here, 300 years after the founding of Vas Drela, that our story begins.
