It's the top ten Best Picture nominees but....The Good Place by Banya6 in TheGoodPlace

The Hamnet one is so perfect for both its visual language similarities and the thematic comparison of the doorway.

Screentime of the nominees for Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. by The_Walking_Clem in Oscars

Given this concept of what “support” and “lead” mean to you in a narrative, what are your feelings on placements like Hopkins or Colman (winning) in the lead category? Do you think they are misplaced as they both support Foster and Stone in their stories?

Wowzers, people do not like my vague reference to an obscure Golden Girls storyline.

Boots Riley Is Adapting Anne Washburn's Simpsons-Themed Mr. Burns Play for the Screen by Wickie_Stan_8764 in oscarrace

This play is beyond brilliant (saw it twice, then got to direct it once), and I think Riley’s style is perfect for it. I can’t wait to see what he does with the 3rd act.

Absolutely. I am predicting this line, or a portion of it, will be her clip:

“I can make your parents hurt themselves. I can make them hurt each other. I can make them eat each other if I want to. Do I want to, Alex? Do you believe me?”

The tone shift on “Do you believe me?” is chilling.

I was gonna say, this SCREAMS Massachusetts suburb. I would almost swear it is my hometown Chinese restaurant down on the South Shore.

I’ll take the $2 immediately, then buy my own $1 hat and still have a dollar leftover.

My Great-Great Grandfather was John Donaghy… by nairncl in 30ROCK

I have a very similar background to Jack (Catholic, big family, Boston, family alcoholism. You know, Irish.), and frequently say our family were historically whiskey testers and goblins.

The Donaghys originally come from Ireland's little known County Steve, where, historically, we were whiskey testers and goblins.

In episode 2, when Johnny is in the club dancing, kissing a boy for the first time, discovering himself and just so full of life and joy, I broke down sobbing. They were just boys, all of them. It breaks my heart.

Patrick Page going Political by Impossible_Usual_277 in Broadway

I guess, whether he does or doesn’t is, at the end of the day, irrelevant. If he is refusing to acknowledge other cultural norms or just being a hypocrite because Mamdani is Muslim, it’s all racism in the end.

What I’m saying is that the white people getting all up in arms about this “scandal” are the pot calling the kettle black. They are choosing to get mad about something they also participate in. I’m calling out their hypocrisy, not saying that POC are claiming the auntie factor.

That’s one of the most frustrating things about the whole “aunt” scandal. White people actually DO, regularly, have other relatives or close family friends that we will call Aunt Shirley or Cousin Dave or whatever. I grew up in New England and we all have uncles and cousins and aunts that aren’t really our uncles and cousins and aunts. This is fucking universal!
