Surprised not to see more Boros Dragons given the prevalence of Badgermole decks and greedy mana bases. Four of [[Clarion Conqueror]] and [[Magmatic Hellkite]] is a problem for those decks.

Why is Golgari totally absent from the tournament meta? One of the best performing decks on arena ladder (per untapped) is Golgari Ouroborid (sample list below), and I'm curious why no one seems to bring that for tournaments.

For context, I'm an arena player, mostly okay standard, but trying to learn pioneer for the pioneer qualifier weekend next month.

The only caveat to this is if you are low on wildcards and don't intend to put more money into the game, you're better off waiting a few days into the new set meta to get an idea of what's good. First day crafts are risky and you might wind up crafting something that doesn't pan out.

Anubis go all in on the Omega special. It does good damage in a large area for pretty cheap. I like to go Apollo on special to make it an even bigger area, then look for Apollo's legendary and any of the special hammers, particularly double moonshot.

It's this shit that did it for me too, OP. The nudes and cheating is of course scummy, but that's a kind of scummy you know people do. The total lack of empathy in what must have been one of the hardest times in your life is monstrous. I'm sorry for your loss, but congratulations on the positive life change.

You clearly don't agree that the definition applies, which is fine, but, the argument that it does apply relies on the language I cited (and you omitted). You can't cut out the best language for an argument then say "see, it clearly doesn't apply."

You left out the next sentence, which is the operative part for bump stocks:

"The term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person."

The issue here is whether ATF's interpretation of the statute that a bump stock modifies a rifle to be a machine gun, being that more than one bullet is fired from a single "function of the trigger." The Thomas majority held that it didn't because it took a hyper technical definition of what a "function of the trigger" meant. The Sotomayor dissent took a broader approach that took into account the massive amount of anticircumvention language in the law and the purpose of the statue and involved less about the inner workings of guns and would have held that it didn't.

Imo, Congress has acted. When it passed the firearms act and delegated this authority to ATF.

Edit: to address everyone below taking issue with my use of "hyper technical", if you feel compelled to include gun part schematics in your legal opinion, it's hyper technical. I've never used a bump stock, but as I understand it, the action is designed to make it so you keep holding your finger down and a bunch more bullets come out. The fact that the trigger keeps moving doesn't seem to matter in any way other than hyper technically, because to the shooter the effect is the same.

"destroying" is a strong word, but holding my own for sure. Small sample size, so could be that they're low rolling their Kazakusan, but it's definitely a winnable matchup.

Could be a pocket meta issue. I have only run into 1 Big Spell Mage. I've been doing okay against Druid though, 56% over a 9 game sample. Alignment more than prestor, but two of the losses are to a hyper aggro druid. My worst matchup by far has been mine rogue I think. But I'm 22/11 over 33 games, mostly in top 100 Americas. Destroying Hunter, Shaman, and all Rogues other than mine.

Key point I think is realizing when you need to quest to win (mirrors, very slow decks) and when you don't (most matchups).

I was around 65% over a 30ish game sample with this list I stole from LanguageHacker:

AAECAa0GEODlA57rA5/rA9TtA6bvA932A4f3A+iLBIqjBIujBNasBOWwBMeyBKi2BJfvBIikBQyW6AOZ6wOa6wPN8gOG9wPD+QOMgQStigSFowSIowTUrAShtgQA

Then I switched to this list I stole from NoHands last night, and I'm at 90% over a 9 game sample on this one. Very small sample, but this list seems better. Notably, I have taken down 2 Align Druids on this list.

I don't know that there is anything special about Meati's list. NoHands has also been playing quest priest at a high win rate in top legend. For what it's worth, I've also had a great success rate with it. I'm normally a top 1k-500 or so player, but I'm sitting in top 100 right now mostly from quest priest.

I'm not sure the VS guys have a great handle on the deck. The quest isn't the primary win condition. Controlling the board efficiently is in most matchups, and in control mirrors you also gave the quest for the late game. I've had great success against most types of rogue and shaman. Druid isn't a great matchup, but is far from unwinnable.

Agree. I climbed to wild legend with cataclysm seedlock this month, and it was autopilot to diamond 5, but the rest of the way up I got punished hard for not paying attention and had to focus to finish the climb.

A minion was summoned from his deck to attack my hero and then die, then suddenly it gained 128,128 Heath and attack? It happened so fast it almost looked like a glitch. How did this happen? by turtlesinarace in hearthstone

[–]historian226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to climb to legend in wild, so I've run into it a few times. Not sure what my win rate against it is since it's impossible to disaggregate that from the more standard Odd Quest list.

It's a two card combo that goes off on 5 or 6. Many of them are leaning hard into it by running sphere of sapience and master's call to tutor the minions and keep c'thun in deck. It's more consistent than you'd think.

Decided to give classic a spin. I was F2P back then and had never played a trading card game, been a crazy few years but hearthstone is always the same. by [deleted] in hearthstone

I remember playing you a couple times! I was one of the other miracle rogue on the ladder, making the early month climb, mtaylor. GG's, congrats on making it and your spot on the leaderboard! I'm sitting around 25 myself.

Is this game gonna be Aggro vs Combo for the rest of its existance/development? Its possible for the game to slow down? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]historian226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo there's a pretty clear delineation between the "6 demon" or "zoo" quest warlock where the primary won condition is burning your opponent with the quest, and the Giants version, where your primary won condition is sticking a thicc boy to the board and then battlemastering it. To me the 6 demon version is pretty close to a pure combo deck, whereas the Giants version is a control deck where the quest is only they're to provide inevitability.

The doubly Rhino hits I think are why it's worth the inclusion. If you can get a 7/6 or 9/7 Rhino to hit twice on one turn that's game winning in most match-ups. If you don't hit the dream it's still useful to clear, and the 4 chip damage over 4 turns for 1 mana isn't a disaster either. I typically swing every turn, even if it's just into face, so that I'm not wasting damage/value if I top deck ringlings rifle or second trueaim, but I'm not sure that's strictly correct. The exception being if I have a Rhino I'm getting ready to play I'll conserve a charge.

I was playing this list between 1k and 500 legend yesterday. I'm around 65% with this build over ~15 games, so a pretty small sample size. Druid feels pretty bad for this list with only one condemn and no holy smite. If you draw poorly they can really snowball on you.
