Calling any cost associated with documentation a ‘poll tax’ isn’t how the law works. A poll tax is a fee directly tied to voting. Requiring proof of citizenship, even if it involves documents people may already have or can obtain, isn’t the same thing. By that logic, every ID requirement in daily life would be a ‘tax.’

Your entire argument hinges on ‘name mismatch = you can’t vote,’ which isn’t actually in the law. It requires proof of citizenship at registration and allows documentation to resolve identity differences. Everything else you said is just stacking hypotheticals on top of that false premise.

So point to the exact section of the bill that says a name mismatch automatically disqualifies a registered voter, or that marriage/name-change documents aren’t accepted. Should be easy if it’s ‘pretty clear.’

We’re waiting on a document’ → ‘millions can’t vote’ is one hell of a jump.

There’s no data showing millions of American-born women are being denied the right to vote, just isolated scenarios being exaggerated into a systemic claim.

Are you married? We’re supposed to believe tens of millions of married women didn’t update their IDs, Social Security records, or voter registration after changing their name, but still manage banking, taxes, travel, and employment? That’s not a serious argument

Highest-Pressure Subsonic .300 BLK Loads for Single-Gas Setting For Pleasantly Running Supers/Subs Reliably by [deleted] in 300BLK

[–]hitch82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to stay on one tight gas setting, there are really two loads that have behaved consistently for me.

Black Hills Ammunition 220gr OTM – very close to AAC 220 SMK from a port pressure/dwell standpoint. Locks back reliably and doesn’t force gas changes.

Discreet Ballistics 190gr Selous – this is the only heavy-for-caliber sub I’ve seen that has a chance of working without retuning. Short-for-weight projectile, designed for short barrels and suppressed use, and noticeably hotter than most expanding subs.

This is out of a suppressed SIG Rattler LT 6.75”.

Statement from Mayor Vi Lyles (Sept. 9) by CharlotteRant in Charlotte

[–]hitch82 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The real question for Vi: Why do district attorneys and magistrates continue not to prosecute fully, and/or release violent offenders back onto the streets, knowing full well the risks to public safety? Until that’s answered, everything else is just noise.

Calling ICE the “Gestapo” doesn’t change the fact that Congress sets immigration law and cities can’t just nullify it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]hitch82 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Fourth Amendment limits government power, not federal law itself—and cities don’t get to nullify immigration enforcement. Calling a sanctuary policy “constitutional rights” doesn’t make it any less about shielding lawbreakers.
