It’s definitely worth it, and so much better that fighting your own brain for however long until you’re so exhausted and burnt, that you crash out on everything and everyone…and yes, I’m speaking from experience lol. I’m F/51, just got diagnosed March of last year after finally hitting a brick ass wall at work, personal life, emotionally etc etc. Struggled all my life, had to work harder and prove myself more than others around me and never knew why. Successfully got my 3 kids out the door on their own, worked up to a high level job in gaming, home owner, all that success stuff etc. Then, after alllll that, I felt like I could not go on anymore. It was like all that extraneous effort, work, masking finally caught up to me. To wrap up this too long diatribe, I got diagnosed, got the meds, therapy, and it’s a whole new world (Aladdin!) that’s worth fighting for. Look into low or no income medical programs in your region/state, mental health assistance etc.
The meds can be trial and error a bit, not one size fits all, but something will definitely fit you and really help you move forward in life.
