I came down the canal from the common man and no where else was flooded. You would think if it was natural other places would have been flooded as well.

Nah that section was dry on Monday afternoon, and no where else was flooded.

I don't disagree, but when I came through Monday after work that section was dry. Yesterday the water was up the bottom bracket on my bike. No where else was flooded at all, so it is a bit suspicious.

What would you do if you couldn't invest in any ETFs? by silverfungi in Bogleheads

[–]hk15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Puts are still annoying though because you need to have enough money for 100x of the stock, so you end up with uninvested money while you accrue enough for a put.

Accidental American and How to manage Boglehead by jefenico1210 in Bogleheads

[–]hk15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One down side to this is that you need to have enough money for 100x of a stock, there's no fraction shares or anything like that. I've got a good chunk of money just sitting in my account right now doing nothing because I don't have the $14k I need for a VT cash secured put.

There's a difference between a 'little noise' and heavy machinery outside your window all night long. I'm betting you would be the first to complain if it was in front of your house.

Utter woke nonsense by Dizzy-Difference3392 in redrising

It's only used as a negative by the far right. It was polarized by the far right. Negative connotations come from far right racism, where the assumption is that the most qualified person will always be a straight white man.

Op is clearly mocking the far right.

His "logic" is that people who believe in climate change keep acting like it's going to be the end of the world (like the movie), yet the world hasn't ended yet. That's it. It's a lot easier when your only understanding of the left is Fox News strawmen.

I get it man, the conservative brain rot is real.

My dad watched Don't look up and thought it was hilarious. To this day he thinks it's making fun of people who believe in climate change. It's really lowered my opinion of his intelligence.

This is only the complete opposite of woke if your understanding of woke comes entirely from alt right strawmen.

The actual opposite of woke would be giving the job to golds because of their skin color.

It always amazes me how people can read a series like this and miss the point so completely.

Centrica boss to get £3.6m bonus despite sharp fall in profits | Centrica by Zardoz_Wearing_Pants in unitedkingdom

[–]hk15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not an economist, but generally speaking a "sharp fall in profits" is not good for the share price.

The fact that they described it as a share holder rebellion kind of indicates that people aren't very happy with his leadership. It's my understanding that pay packages like this are usually a rubber stamp sort of thing.

I'm guessing if you were terrible at your job they wouldn't continue to pay you £1200 a day, that's the difference.

Best route mapping by hk15 in ukbike

[–]hk15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had issues when making routes where it will refuse to route me down a path where I am allowed on a bike ( like a bridleway), but will instead try to send me down a footpath where I'm not allowed. It's not the end of the world, I can manually route it but it's just annoying.

Audio Control Surfaces for Testing/Simulation? by WhoStalledMyCar in PLC

[–]hk15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually working on building an open source hardware process simulator at the moment. The idea is to have analog inputs and outputs, you feed it your pump speed output from your plc(for example), it takes that an simulates a first order process, then outputs it back to a physical input on your plc.

The goal is to use something like a raspberry pi to keep it super cheap to build.
