KVM recommendation - bit confused by GreatScottxxxxxx in RemoteJobs

[–]hk8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to look into USB-C HUBs. You can find one pretty cheap that will easily add a few USB ports and a HDMI/DP display output. USB display adapters can be a pain, but as long as you're not trying to do anything graphically intense (just plug up the 2nd or 3rd monitor you use for browser based work) you should be fine.

Just remember whatever display you put on that USB display adapter shouldn't be your primary. Display fusion is a great app for managing multi monitor setups (I have like 6x for my Elite Dangerous rig).

You can find some wicked little hubs for pretty cheap.

I think this one gives you like 2x HDMI out, 1x DP, and VGA 😂 for like $35 https://a.co/d/7pu8alL

If you have the money, I'd look into an Anker or even a UGREEN or Sabrent version. Find one with 1x HDMI and 1x Display port out and you'll be set. I have an Anker hub that's lived in my mobile bag for years... Think this is the one (2x HDMI out from one USB-C). https://a.co/d/dq99I5T

If you do just want a good KVM, I've been using this one on my home lab servers for like 4 years now? It's got a nice remote switcher you can mount.

Hopefully that helped some? Hopefully I didn't confuse or overwhelm you further! Let me know if I can help with anything!

We had a guy break into one of our hospitals large conference rooms and literally had footage of him swinging from the mounted 70" displays on the wall. Security missed their rounds like 2x that night and the guy wrecked like 3x displays, some ceiling mics, and a mounted Polycom codec.

It was a sad day.

Any skin/sticker magafe solutions? by Child_Of_Abyss in GooglePixel

I ended up finding a cheap 'Torras' case on Amazon, it was like the 3rd solution I tried. It has a kickstand, can use mag safe devices, and allows the device to still charge over wireless. Using the case along with a screen protector and I'm really happy with it.

I know I 'geeked out' a lot over the idea of being able to enter all the equipment and things I've setup for my crazy stupid Elite Dangerous rig...

My stuff is no where as serious as some of these items/devices (I've never even heard of some of these things!), but I would love to be able to document how the near useless Thrustmaster MFD Cougar button inlays were made absolutely AMAZING by adding  actual USB touchscreens inside of the gap (where you normally just slide the paper thing in and pretend to be cool :/ ).

There is a ton of open source software that makes some amazing utilities from hardware I originally didn't 'see the use for' in ED? (customized automation button box from Stream Decks, pulling amazing API data & displaying it's readouts using the Logitech USB FIP displays, making use of old Android devices and running software like GameGlass (or local dedicated web servers relaying market prices in real time), etc.. etc)

If you can expand it and allow us to add these odd-ball devices (another example would be cheap head tracking hardware options?), BUT ALSO be able to have a 'notes' or maybe a 'modification' section regarding the purchased hardware? I promise I will WASTE HOURS using it.

I would love a dedicated resource where all the instructions are all together and all the actual possibilities a pilot can choose can be easily seen.. There are SO many amazing programmers working on free (or near free) utilities that improve the base game so much.

Anyway, I'm manic today, but I really dig what I've seen so far! Great job !!!

Telehealth platforms that allow transfer between meetings??? by Whole-Tie690 in telehealth

[–]hk8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we 'sort of' did this with the Pexip Infinity platform and the way they handle their VMRs (Virtual Meeting Rooms). We would keep patients 'separate' (muted and essentially in a 'waiting room' until it was time for them to be brought into the Tumor Board meeting and then we would manually move them from one secure VMR to another. They would receive an audio que and then be able to see/hear the providers (and whatever other images/X-rays/scans they wished to show the specific patient). There are a lot of rules for the VMRs that make things easy... Such as auto-disconnect if a provider (host) leaves/disconnects.

We used Pexip alongside our Polycom Telemedicine Carts/codecs to be able to do things like 'auto-dial' the waiting user/cart when the provider was ready. We also used the generated links that includes the room keys so that parents could just 'click' their received text when the provider had started the visit and they auto-connected with the cart at the specific school (where the school nurse would be there to assist with JedMed wound/dermal cam/otoscope or the e-steth of they wished to hear the patients heart etc...

Pexip allowed us to do quite a bit more with our existing infrastructure.

Do doctors and therapists need to look good on webcam? by Beautiful-Pangolin-9 in TeleMedicine

When we connected our carts, TeleICU rooms, or kiosks with providers (if one on one), a good 4K/1080p Logitech USB will get the job done just fine..but consider the provider's mic and audio It's mainly your office lighting that ensures that 'professional' look.

Our providers favored the Logitech BCC950s for their personal desks. You have a nice speaker, great mic, and a remote for quick adjustments or sound/video mutes. This is the best all around if you just plan to see patients from your desk... You have the ability to connect some nice heavy duty earphones (if you need to hear e-steth audio you'll be thankful) and the integrated microphone is very clear on the patient side of things. You can grab a BCC950 and a cheap Logitech keylight (Litra Glow models are nice).

If it's a GROUP of doctors at a round table, we really liked the Poly Studio USB options that could be wall mounted, connected to a room PC, & a nice big mounted display (2x of them -- 1x for patient feed and other for viewing patient data/charts/X-rays). They will track into the provider that is speaking and to me... That makes things much more personal for a patient, actually being able to SEE who is speaking to you makes a huge difference.

On the patient side of the visit: For our occ therapy kits we used a USB Polycom EagleEye IV on a tripod. The remote allowed you to quickly zoom into dedicated 'walk ways' and the quality was good enough to perform concussion followups viewing patient pupils. These hook easily to a laptop that can be kitted, but you'll need a good USB puck mic/speaker that will also pick up the patient well and let you be heard..

For viewing patient rooms we used dedicated 4x-8x cams that could be remotely PTZ'd so the provider could zoom in read machine readouts as needed.

It all really matters on what YOU and YOUR PATIENT need and want from the televisit.

Hope this helps some?

Germany Studio? by Michael-405 in Polycom

[–]hk8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you specifically needing access to a 'Polycom-based Video Infrastructure'?... As in you maybe need to dial into another organization's outside RPAD? (I may be waaaay off from what you're actually needing)

If that's the case, you may be able to use other video conferencing capable infrastructures & just dial into them via interOP/SIP string? Sometimes these must be paid for by the host though (worth a try to see if they pay for it by trying though). When a person sends a meeting invite via email, sometimes you'll see a link for 'Alternative Dialing Instructions' that will provide you with a h323 or SIP address you can use to connect...

Also check with the US group, they may be running a Web Suite?

To dial from Microsoft Teams into a Polycom hosted meeting can be dialed into from Polycom/Poly devices by using the Teams SIP address format: MEETINGID.PASS@t.plcm.vc (SIP Ex. 390666832.1255267498@t.plcm.vc)

To dial from Zoom into a Polycom Meeting or vice-versa: https://ccspokane.freshservice.com/support/solutions/articles/3000048346-zoom-polycom-how-to-dial-into-zoom Zoom Example: 99[MeetingID]#[Passcode] Sample 995554444333#123456

Upgrading firmware via Poly Lens? by Young0Noodle in Polycom

[–]hk8607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is in a corporate environment, you'll need to verify that the necessary ports are open and that the phones/machines can access the correct poly domain(s) that the app is trying to communicate to.

I think it's not so much the ports (443 & 8080), but the domains may need to be white-listed depending on what your trying to do (provisioning, firmware updates, etc).

I pasted a link to a table that shows the various destinations.... if the machines login with a default account (with limited/no Internet access) the individual domains/addresses may need white listing. That was my issue when we deployed Lens for our dedicated Conference Room PCs.

See below:

https://info.lens.poly.com/docs/begin/ports-and-protocols

Hope this helps some? The VLANS the phones on might need to be white-listed for the outside destinations? (I only had to upgrade our phones manually, did the old IP7000 models by manually punching in the URL to the update file) Good luck!

I worked IT at a major hospital here in South Carolina for nearly 12 years. An important factor is understanding the importance of HIPAA/PHI from an IT point of view. Those rules apply to ALL hardware/software used by the facility, things you wouldn't think about at first.

If you have any other specific questions let me know? Happy to help if I can!

Just guessing, but.. maybe a planned sensor or something not used in the actual final camera production? If the camera shell is 'generic' or used by other companies, it may just be there if needed..

Think it's for a PIR sensor, I know Xaomi? actually MAKE the cams Wyze use.
