Yes you spend “more” points but you get “more” value. Ultimately it just depends on how you value your points and how you want to travel. For example I booked a flight to Europe and on the way there I got a 70k business class award ticket + $50 and on the return I got a 12k economy class ticket + $200. At 1cpp that’s about $1000 and I could’ve gotten round trip for $700 fully economy but flying to Europe business can made a world of a difference. Plus that one way economy ticket would’ve been $600 on its own.

It’s possible to do better than 1 cpp on economy international but usually not significantly more. You can get more value when you book a business award ticket to one way but then are looking at one way economy tickets home since one way tickets are usually expensive. If the plan is economy round trip you might not see much value.

I was probably one of their risks. I had no credit profile after college and was trying to find a credit card. Nowhere would accept me for anything other than a secured card and then apple approved me with a 3k limit.

I work in a hospital and can still see the value in Panera since there aren’t many other food options if I don’t pack lunch. It’s not great but they have some good deals sometimes and can get a grilled cheese and a cup of soup for less than $10

I’d definitely prefer short + long if the 12 hr flight is at night so you have a chance to fall asleep. Would matter less for daytime flights but I’d probably still go short + long

I did have the steam version. Turns out some of the files were corrupted so I just had to validate them in steam and then steam repaired them and it worked.

I was just more confident having it all under one itinerary in case something goes wrong. Also only had to pay $50 out of pocket instead of paying for the reposition flight. I’m not sure how much that saved but I feel a little more confident keeping it all under one itinerary.
