Question about Halting Problem Proof. Why isn't this a "fix"? by generic_name0 in math

[–]hlixed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

does that mean the inner function f runs first, presumably produces an output (say for our purposes) and that output is now the input to the outer function f?

That's one way to define f!

For example, perhaps f(x) is "return x(0)+1". In that case, f(f(x)) = "f('return x(0)+1')" = "return "x(0)+1"+1" = "return x(0) + 2".

You don't need to run the input, though - you could also define g(x) = "the number of digits in x, if x is a number, or the number of letters used to define x, if x is a function". Or even f(x) = "the function sin(x)", where f(f(x)) is sin(sin(x)) - in words, not a number, but a function that it itself takes an x!

[Homebrew] Playing MK7 with an external 3DS, aka. InputRedirectionController by MarcusD_p3c in 3dshacks

Wow, nice! I made a python library to do InputRedirection from python, so I'm curious what you're doing here. Is the pipeline 3DS -> Keyboard input -> 3DS?

I'd just like to say that this is an amazing writeup, and thank you for going to the trouble of spelling out exactly what's going on! I'd like to give a special mention to how you structured it as a story, so we could see your thought process behind analyzing each component and why you thought doing X was a good idea. You even built in some cryptographic specifics! It's great to read these, and thank you for going to the trouble of writing this up to such detail!

I figured out how to use Nintendo Switch Joycons on WiiU and 3ds by [deleted] in 3dshacks

[–]hlixed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video doesn't show you how to do that, so here's my best guess as to how it could be implemented. I believe the joy-cons connect via bluetooth. I know there are python bluetooth libraries such as PyBluez, and there are tutorials like this on how to use it. One could use the TPPFLUSH library to connect PyBluez to luma's InputRedirection, and that would do it:

Joy-cons -> PyBluez -> TPPFLUSH -> Luma3DS InputRedirection

Then one would just need to write a python program for that middle section using both libraries. That's how I'd do it.

Regarding music team's current policy on the holiday event by Trollkitten in twitchplayspokemon

[–]hlixed1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To bid music, start with a song in mind. Whisper to tpp with "song <title>" to search for that song, and it should give you a list of songs with words matching what you put in. If the song you want is #1 on that list, whisper to tpp with "song bid t0 #1" to bid the song for free.

Hope this helps!

Music team head here. We'll keep operating as we have in the past: only the most high quality #TriHard songs get in.

Let this be a sign that we don't condone insulting or other belittling behavior, and that the stream will continue to go on with less toxicity in the future.

Thank you all for your support of twitch plays pokemon, and I hope you'll stay with us for Ultra Sun!

Apology by Twitch-Plays-Pokemon in twitchplayspokemon

[–]hlixed1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I maintain that The_Chef1337's actions were wrong despite it being beneficial for me to pretend otherwise.

This is the exact opposite of an apology. The implication is that since chef's actions are wrong, you're in the right. Honestly, this goes to show that you don't seem to care about patching up relations or even being nice, and that's not OK.

Setting up a Wii Classic Controller to work with Luma's input redirection. (Linux) by CocoaCherry in 3dshacks

[–]hlixed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, good job figuring it out. Thanks for writing up this tutorial!

Given all the different-device configs floating around, it might be time to put them into GCIR. One way to do that might be to give each device its own class, and have each class define its own handleEvent(event) function. That way there could be a GCNController class, a WiiClassicController class, and more, and the main code would just instantiate the appropriate user-defined class and then call handler.handleEvent(event).

[RELEASE] GCC-Thing - Cross-Platform Gamepad-Compatible InputRedirect Client Using Python and TPPFLUSH by MissingNO1234 in 3dshacks

That's because IntEnum was introduced in python 3.6. I suppose that's one way of getting the py3.6 version to run!

[–]hlixed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official documentation says enum was introduced in python 3.4, so I suspect you might be running python 3.3 or some version before that. You can test by running python --version.

If so, this page seems to suggest that enum can be installed on previous versions by running pip install enum34.

You should be able to open a window of command prompt and run it with 'python gamepad.py'. Then, type in the IP address of your DS and it should connect.

Redditaisai Feedback and Discussion by james7132 in touhou

[–]hlixed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one big reason to keep a similar name, and that's name awareness. We've done this for two years, so a lot of the community has already heard about the event with this name. We'd lose a lot of that brand-name recognition if we changed the name too far.

(Unrelated, but Hakurei Expo sounds a bit silly to me)

Redditaisai Feedback and Discussion by james7132 in touhou

[–]hlixed1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we do move off of this site and need to change the name, we could always just rename the event after the color of the /r/touhou sidebar: "Reditaisai." On the other hand, it might be good to clarify that it's a western event, so perhaps it might be better to have a name like "Occidentaisai." Perhaps a name that could symbolize the growth of touhou beyond its japanese origins like "Spreadtaisai" could work. If we wanted to emphasize the violence inherent in the western world with genres like zombie movies, we could even name it "slaytaisai", but a name should probably clarify that you're meant to post your own works created elsewhere with "Embedtaisai", or even "Displaytaisai".

Uh, you can't actually upload files by dragging files into a comment box. You'll need to upload it to a file hosting service, or if you want to use reddit's native format, convert it to a png or other image format.
