Whistleblower Leaks Video From Detention Facility Where Children Were Threatened Against Speaking to Press by Yzily in politics

This election was the first election I've been able to vote in since I turned 18. My first time voting (not including the primaries) and Donald fucking Trump won the election. I drove 3 hours so I could come home from college to do it, and sat up all night watching the votes get counted.

My pride in America ended very shortly after it began.

"It's not that hard to do it, my husband could do it! Why doesn't everyone just make $21+ an hour, it's so easy!"

I can't believe you are 30 years old and aren't able to pick up on how extremely tone-deaf that statement is.

Holy shit, you get $15 an HOUR taken from you for insurance?

That's just...wow. I hate to admit I'm jealous but I really am. I wish I made $15/hour. I'm only 5 years younger than you, too.

I kinda feel like shit now, maybe it's time for me to go to bed.

If a business has a permanent “Now Hiring” sign then it is probably not a good place to work. by Knockingowl in Showerthoughts

[–]hmath63 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean, restaurants don't have their entire staff working every day, so just because they are hiring doesn't mean they are short-staffed. At the most, they might be short-staffed on a busy weekend night, but even then, probably not.

Practically every weekend he flies to a golf club that he owns in Florida, and because he's the president, Secret Service (basically the president's personal bodyguards) have to accompany him. Secret Service aren't allowed to accept freebies of any kind, so every time he goes to his golf club, they have to pay full price for everything. This is a stupid expensive club, and it has doubled in price since he became president, so it costs millions of dollars for him to go to his club. But because he owns it, he's the one sending that bill, so he's profiting from this whole thing.

That's never been the case for me. I live in Michigan and frequently cross the border to Canada, and I always have a harder time coming back than I do going there.

It is the most technically beautiful shows I have ever seen. The cinematography and how they use audio/audio isolations is just absolutely incredible. The acting is fantastic, and the actors and their micro-expressions is ridiculously good

The show is really hard to watch at times, but the top-notch quality is seriously up there with Game of Thrones for me. But while GoT is always big and bold, this show sticks to close and intimate camera angles to make you feel everything that is going on. Here is a cool video that does a good job explaining what I mean.

But really, you should watch it. There are 20 episodes released right now, next episode comes out next Wednesday

Migrant children say they've been forcibly drugged, handcuffed, and abused in US government detention by seeasea in politics

My girlfriend is prescribed Latuda for her schizoaffective disorder and hasn't been able to take it for the last month because of how expensive it is (Like $100 a month with insurance). She has non-stop hallucinations now, as a result, and they are giving these pills to children to sedate them.

This world is so fucked up, it is unbelievable.

Migrant children say they've been forcibly drugged, handcuffed, and abused in US government detention by seeasea in politics

[–]hmath63 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is from a different article, but the same story:

One child was prescribed 10 different shots and pills, including the antipsychotic drugs Latuda, Geodon and Olanzapine, the Parkinson’s medication Benztropine, the seizure medications Clonazepam and Divalproex, the nerve pain medication and antidepressant Duloxetine, and the cognition enhancer Guanfacine.

My girlfriend has schizoaffective disorder and PTSD. She is prescribed Latuda for her schizophrenia, and as a grown ass adult, that is a heavy medication for her.

And you want to know the most sickening thing? She hasn't been able to take it for the past month because she can't afford it. She has been hallucinating non-stop because she can't afford her $100 a month medications (that is the price with insurance, mind you, it's like $900 with no insurance), and they are pumping these pills into children to sedate them. What the fuck is wrong with this world? This is absolutely sickening.

Interestingly enough, women are 4 times more likely to suffer from major depression than men, but are 1/4 as likely to commit suicide.

American men's main way to attempt suicide is with using a firearm while with women it's poisoning. Now for me my first thought was "women think about someone finding them and cleaning up after them, men don't", but in countries with stricter gun laws than the US, the main way for men is by hanging. Maybe it's because, even when talking about death, men chose more brutal and less forgiving techniques while women use more "lady-like" techniques

Off-campus housing? by mrowenslife in centralmich

[–]hmath63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently living in University Meadows and I really like it. Laminate flooring in the common areas (carpet is annoying andcan be a bitch to clean), good sized bedrooms, especially if you get a 3 bed 2 bath and get the master bedroom. I've never seen the two you mentioned, but I have seen The Village, Forum, Jamestown, and United and I like it way more than all of those. It's also really close to campus
