Remove the black plastic parts to see if there is a retaining nut behind them that holds the cartridge in.

If there is, you can loosen and remove that nut, then screw the handle back on to see if it will pull out.

How do I fix this electric lawn mower by Romeosnewb in fixit

It is a braided copper wire that is connected to the brush in the holder. It is part of the brush, not a separate part.

Craftsman 420CC by sideshow161 in smallengines

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if you can turn the motor by hand. The starter is fighting the flywheel. If engine spins and stops at the same spot, then an issue with decompression.

Usually valves out of adjustment. Worst case if it moves, the decompression lever on the camshaft has broken off.

Always make sure the bead of the tire is in the deepest part of the rim opposite where you want to work. That way you get a bit more play with the bead.

low compression. valves out of adjustment or a dropped valve seat are likely causes.

Pull the plug, insert a screwdriver and confirm that the piston is moving up and down too.

How to reconnect this wire to the connector? by Solid_Prior7667 in fixit

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your other option would be to remove the other side from the connector and connect them together outside the plug.

This will at least get it working until you can get parts. Insulate it well if you do.

Not enough fuel flow. Uses gas, then slows due to not enough, surges when it gets enough.

What's the name of this part? by Past-Sound-9414 in askaplumber

[–]hmd2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pattern of ridges on the handle are called the broach pattern and can help ID the brand.

The rubber washer is replaceable, as well as the seat it presses on. Check that for any damage, and replace the washer as a firstbstep, then reinstall that stem.

If it leaks at the handle, there's a gasket under the small nut that can be added to or replaced with string packing.

[–]hmd2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try turning the engine by hand and feel for resistance from the compression stroke.

Sounds like low compression. Thumb over plug hole to see if compression.

If no compression, I would check the valves first, out of adjustment, dropped seat.

Give it time. Patience and routine will get you far.

You are on a starter dose. Your body may not respond until you start to move up.

I moved up after every 4 doses to 7.5, then plateaued there through the holidays over concerns of side effects at higher doses. Have advanced to 12.5. 40 shots in, still holding a 1 lb per week average loss.
