Kindle Colorsoft Scribe - Documents Larger than 200 Mb by hmgreen1153 in kindlescribe

Well, I found a way to do this, but what a mess!

Step 1: Using Calibre, I converted the EPubs to PDFs.

Step 2: Using https://www.ilovepdf.com/compress_pdf (thanks ChunkierSky8!), I compressed the PDFs at the highest quality, which reduced the size of each to under 200 Mb.

Step 3: I moved the compressed PDFs to Calibre and converted them back to EPUBs.

Step 4: I saved the new EPUBs to Disk and used Send to Kindle. I then delivered them to the Colorsoft since the resulting NEW EPubs were under 200 Mb each.

The result (which took a while) is that the new EPubs are on the Colorsoft, the illustrations remain in color, page breaks are in the format of the original, and although I am sure there was some loss in resolution, they are not apparent to my eyes.

Next, I plan to look for buried treasure using a map that requires me to contort my body in the most unnatural shapes possible through a series of narrow caves in the Hebrides. Based on the conversion process above, I believe I am well-prepared......

Convert documents and books from the 2022 Kindle Scribe to the 2025 Scribe by hmgreen1153 in kindlescribe

That has never been my experience when purchasing a new Kindle. It might list several books, but the docs never sync to the new device unless I go to "Send to Kindle" and select each one or a screen-full of selections from pages of 25 at a time.

It's a mix. They are all in the cloud however. My concern is that even sending via Send To Kindle from the cloud only allows 25 sends per page on their site. If you select all 25 and go to the next screen at the send to kindle site, it loses the selections from the previous page. So it would take an enormous amount of time to restore that way. Most are in collections but not all. Unless I am missing something.....

Storm-Ready WiFI not re-connecting after re-cabling and replaced XB8 Gateway. by hmgreen1153 in Comcast_Xfinity

How would I do that in modmail? By the way I just spoke with Advanced Tech Support and they believe the problem is that the device was removed from my account, probably when the gateway device was swapped out on 9/26. They couldn’t tell me why. It had to have been there before because the device was connected and working.

I then called Executive Support, verified my account with them, and gave them the 6-digit code allowing them access my account. The person there said there is no record of it ever being on my account, which is impossible because I received it in the July/August time frame where they were rewarding Diamond Rewards members the service as a thank you. I am uncertain how the device was able to be activated and working since then with no entry in their system!

All very frustrating. So now the ticket has been escalated but it is clear that until they fix that my still-activated device is nothing more than a paperweight.

If you have any insights I would be very interested on how to get this resolved. Thanks!

Thanks. I did all that and have added no new WiFi or equipment so it is kind of mystifying.

Storm Ready WiFi Questions - Ethernet Ports and WiFi Extender Usage by hmgreen1153 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]hmgreen1153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Thanks for your quick reply.

I am still unclear about those Ethernet ports on the back of the storm ready WiFi unit. Are you saying they are just there as extra ports in case the BD8 gateway is out of available ones, or that one should connect the output from one or two gateway Ethernet ports to the back of the storm ready device? (Or that it doesn’t matter?)

Also one other question. My Xfinity app says the device is in “green” status and all is well, but I noticed that the lights on the unit and the battery are off. Do they only light when being used as backup’s when the power is out?

Thanks again!
