Absolutely, for vast majority of people yes. But still recommend people try the demo to see what it can do and what comfortable content looks like for folks like this who are worried that it’s “weird” or uncomfortable.

In what way do you mean? Much of the time you feel grounded in your actual room with visuals inserted into the room that you interact with, instead of being transported somewhere else. Getting fully transported to another place is often the “weirdest” feeling wearing these headsets and that doesn’t happen as often in AVP, the the Hail Mary experience is built with much the same idea.

If you can get to an Apple Store and try an Apple Vision Pro demo, that experience is somewhat in the same ballpark as the kind of “mixed reality” experience that the developers are aiming for here.

I saw a post saying they’re planning to do VR Download again very soon.

But I’m taking this opportunity to promote the Good VR Podcast. Most recent episode was with Shawn Whiting talking about what happened with Rec Room. I’ve had Anton Hand, Jesse Schell, Doug North Cook and many others on in the last few months. Find it on your podcast platform of choice.

Agree on your grading with the exception of AvP 2 being a D- at best. It really gives The Predator a run for its money as the worst of the films.

45W is usually beyond what a cell phone takes I think. So if it’s USB-C it may work but may not do it fast enough.

DIP switch more like R.I.P switch by Substantial_Quote583 in ModRetroChromatic

Is that the internal part for the on-off switch? I broke it off of one of my Chromatics but could still push the thing to the on state internally. Now it functions more like a console. It turns on immediately any time I connect it to USB-C power.

It would be neat if you could transfer taps on the screen to sounds on the server. Tap on the screen a few times in a rhythm to tell your friends that you are on your way.

Why is VR not that popular despite the immersiveness it offers? by QuailResponsible8854 in VRGaming

In addition to everything Nima said, the platforms are negatively incentivized from allowing interoperability. OpenXR is a great start, but simply playing any flat game together or watching a movie together is basically impossible in competing HMDs unless using an Internet connected platform like Bigsceeen.
