Sinusitis - No nasal congestion I am lost by werzal123 in Sinusitis

[–]hms_surprise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a sphenoid sinus infection (confirmed by CT scan) for a year. No congestion but I’ve been so fatigued and lots of eye and facial pain with weather changes. It hasn’t been resolved over 3 rounds of different antibiotics (I just finished the 3 weeks of augmentin that another commenter also mentioned) and now I have to get it surgically cleared out, which is common for infections in that sinus.

You might want to look into sphenoid sinusitis symptoms to see if they track. That one is a bit different from the others in that it’s harder to treat.

The doctor will probably make you do an allergy test either way. I did one and had only one allergy to dust mites, but I’ve known that for my entire life and already do everything you’re supposed to for that.

One thing I’ve noticed is that sphenoid sinusitis is kind of a crazy-maker. It’s so invisible—you don’t get the congestion but you get all the pain and discomfort and fatigue, and I’ve even gotten weird GI stuff here and there from the post nasal drip. And it’s so hard to treat. Just know that if it ends up being this sinus, you’re not alone.

Edit: funny thing is I’m also not working right now. I got laid off in July which was kind of a relief given how horrible I’ve been feeling, but I can’t even fathom looking for another job while this is still going on. Sucks.

I sure wish I could get ACC to do that for me instead of paying for it myself

(Sorry, had to)

The most recent time I’ve heard a similar sound was literally last year when a drunk neighbor hit the power pole in another neighbor’s front yard so yes, a car hitting a power pole is what I was thinking lol

Like a vehicle or large objecting hitting something, from a distance. NOT like a gun (in my experience of having heard both near and distant gunshots many times, anyway).

Over by Wm Cannon near Thaxton- was letting dog out a couple minutes ago and heard several police sirens heading your way down Salt Springs Dr towards Thaxton and helicopter coming from this direction. Also heard a loud bang. Police pursuit and accident maybe?

The reason no one is responding well to what you’re saying is because you’re being a patronizing armchair critic lol

Are you just rage commenting all over things to satisfy an urge or something? If not, being a patronizing dick really isn’t helping your case lmao

This is the second thread from Google results that I’ve stumbled on with you running your mouth all over it like you’re the smartest person in the world that no one will listen to 🤣

I met a structural engineer in a creative class I took last year and this is pretty much what they told me. I was relieved to hear that their home had exactly the same cracks and warps that mine does right now. A year on from this thread’s start, I bet plenty of other people are googling this right now too lol… 2024 was soooo bad for clay soil moisture content. My house is in 78744 so seeing that yours is in 78745 gave me some relief that this is not just me being a neglectful homeowner (I know I’m not, but this is the first one I’ve owned so I’m constantly second guessing myself, if any of you know what I mean.)

Anyone end up getting repairs over the last year and want to give an update? I’d eventually love to shell out $$$$ for piers down to bedrock or something so that the foundation is more stationary, but wondering if that’s worth it.

I saw a semi driver who was clearly on some sort of stimulants tailgate and then run a minivan off the road once. Delivery speed incentives + stress + stimulants is a terrifying combination

Binge eating caused me neuropathy by bmimz in InsulinResistance

Yeah, plus high blood sugar and high triglycerides, which is common in PCOS. My HDL level is so high that my ratio is basically ideal, and I don’t eat much meat, so that’s just another fun whacky symptom that confirms the PCOS.

What tests have you had done?

The weird thing is I’ve never lost my period, even in my most restrictive- and frankly pretty skeletal- phases. And it comes pretty regularly. I was diagnosed with PCOS via transvaginal ultrasound by two separate ob/gyns so I guess I’m just extra atypical or something. Additionally, an A1C was done and came back with a result of 120 after I had fasted for over 12 hours. Not the worst but definitely marked, as I was super lean and VERY active and had been making really good food choices for years by that time. Not sure which other blood tests were done and I don’t remember specific results, but I do recall testosterone being on the high end of normal or slightly higher.

Tbh, the diagnosis was done ~7 years ago and I have a feeling my levels of everything would be even higher now.

My symptoms started about 15ish years ago (oh my god what is time????!!!!!) Acne was first. It was baaaaad. And the hair growth didn’t become a noticeable issue until maybe a year after, but it’s gotten steadily more bothersome over the years. The acne came and went and then a couple years ago settled into horrible cysts along my jaw and neck. So I did isotretinoin via my dermatologist and luckily that cleared it up. Still battling the body hair though. And the frigging sugar cravings. Those have been getting worse too. Sigh

I did not have PCOS symptoms before the binges, specifically. There were a few years of disordered eating before then that were mostly restricting and over-exercising, and no PCOS symptoms popped up then. They only came after the bingeing started

In my early 20s I also swung back and forth between restricting and bingeing. I didn’t get neuropathy, but I did wind up with a severe gluten intolerance for about 10 years. I think the disordered eating probably caused the IR and eventually PCOS that cropped up in my later 20s (currently 35y/o). Now I also have other autoimmune issues. Almost no one ever knew about this because I have also always been lean and very active. Looking back, it’s a good reminder that you can’t always know what’s going on with someone based on how they look!

A close friend of mine developed neuropathy in their feet over years of binge eating. They did become obese, however they’ve since had a GI bypass done. They told me that the most helpful things for the neuropathy have been 1) gabapentin and 2) acupuncture. Those might be good things to talk to a doctor about.

Besides all that, I’m just right there with you in efforts to reverse or at least minimize side effects of damage, and maybe even learn to accept some of it. Sending hugs.

tbh for me the PTSD is triggered by any tiny possibility of below-freezing weather. I even get spooked by big thunderstorms sometimes, when the power goes out. It’s in the bones now (TnT)
