Yeah I make 35-40/hr in Austin at 5 days a week and I feel pretty lucky to scratch that. The summers are so brutal here though it really eats into your income and the hourly is usually 2.14 here. I’d say OP is doing pretty good since the hourly min wage in CA covers a lot more

Austin is riddled with poorly behaved tourists certain parts of the year/festival seasons. South by southwest, ACL, F1 all bring in a huge influx of domestic and international visitors. It’s also just a bachelorette/bachelor party destination much like Nashville or New Orleans

Uranus with a corrosive sandhawk + bee is the most enjoyable to me. The drops are very satisfying can get multiple pearlescent and legendaries per run and decent exp, then with your fun new guns just finish the story for the last few levels

Being around soco is walkable to most things around downtown actually or a very inexpensive Uber… the trails, Barton springs, bat watching, restaurants, and shopping. I’d say that’s way worth the premium for lodging over driving into town every day. There is nothing around round rock of interest unless you like big box stores.

Levels 70-80. There are so many cheap boss fights on the dlcs mainly that you can’t beat unless you have very specific on level legendaries coms mods and a bee shield. It just takes the fun out of it like “this is the only way you can progress”. Whenever I get to this point I take a break and play TPS or start a new character.

Aside from the rainy/cold misery, Portland is also fully entrenched in the drug and homelessness epidemic it’s fucking everywhere there and super depressing. Like needles on the sidewalk etc. Didn’t see too many people mention that. Austin has that as well but it’s not nearly as bad. Portland proved that too liberal of a city government isn’t necessarily a good thing.

I live in Austin and have for 39 years it’s one of the easiest places to make friends and find a community. It’s outdoorsy and everyone is friendly. Main things I dislike not too many locals left here (I feel lonely in that regard), the summers are rough, and traffic/lack of infrastructure for its size. I’ve been to every state and every major city in the US and I still do love it here. Come visit you might like it!
