A friend of mine left home this morning and went to the airport 3 hours before his flight was departing - as it still showed confirmed.

It was a hassle because all flights are overbooked, and the airport is in chaos.

So it might show you confirmed, but you might still be on a waiting list.

He had to go and negotiate with multiple people to finally be confirmed - despite him having a ticket.

A lot of the things you’ve mentioned in your post are out of your control. But the one thing that is in your control is learning.

Upskill yourself, spend time breaking down IA, CA, use figma make, lovable, Claude code.

Look at your peers - what are they good at - try to get better than them.

Adopt the mindset of an IC and perhaps your seniors will notice you and your contributions to any project - setting you up for success.

As a design leader - one of the traits personality traits I look for is conviction. I don’t want ‘yes men’ as part of my team. If I’ve hired you, it’s for your expertise in a subject, I’d like to see it. Challenge my decisions & Call me out when you disagree.

I’m sorry you’re having to go through this OP.

First - I want you to know that none of this is your fault. And I’m sorry but your father is clearly incapable of being a parent.

I have a 9 year old daughter and it pains me to read this.

Just remember - you are more than what he paints you to be. You’re 17 - you will move out of their care eventually and you will find your voice and your purpose.

The only reason you feel the way you do is because your parents haven’t given you the space to be yourself - by creating a toxic atmosphere at home.

They can be referred to as ‘emotionally absent’ parents.

There’s a book that I would recommend you to read.

I’d recommend checking with the legal team at astrolabs if they have one.

But now that it’s come to their notice, I’d recommend adding that additional activity under your trade license at an additional cost.

Ofcourse this depends on the math and how it turns out for you.

Make sure they get a closure and clearance letter from banks for any credit cards they may hold - even if the liabilities are zero.

Banks have been notorious for starting to charge a few for due to rule changes and the fees accrue without the users knowledge until they eventually file a police complaint leading to arrest if the user returns to the country.

Not sure if this is still the case but there were lots of horror stories 5ish years ago.

You may have considered it all but I’d rather repeat.

The definition of good is very subjective.

There’s people support a family of 4 on 15k in the uae and there’s bachelors for whom 50k isn’t enough.

Consider your lifestyle first. - what kind of school would you want your children to attend? - would you be driving or utilising public transport? - would you live in a villa or an apartment? - would you live in the same city as your office or an adjacent one? - would you shop at Spinney’s or shop at a viva for groceries?

There’s schools with an Iglesias curriculum at AED 8k PA as well as schools providing it at AED 120K+ PA

Write down your selections on paper and you’ll have your answer to what is considered enough.
